I came THIS CLOSE to seeing Andrew Bird in concert. He was in Denver a week ago on a Thurday night (lame) and, alas, I couldn’t go. Argh!!! Oh well. Another time.
How to see Andrew Bird in concert
How I did it: I stalked ticket sites, like ticketmaster, for quite awhile. then i bought tickets to his nearest show.....four hours away. we made it into a 'long weekend'

Andrew Bird is coming to Ohio! Cincinnati, but I can swing it. I think ,no I know, Hillary and I are going to take a trip to the show April 5!!!!!!!!!!!!!
To be honest, I was rather dissapointed. He seems to be falling farther and farther from the music tree I like. It’s becomming less about the violin and more about the ambiatic sound and the bizarre lyrics. He also didn’t switch instruments as often as he did before… he didn’t seem to care as much. Maybe it was just an off night. Nonetheless, I won’t pay more than $15 to see him again.
This isn’t to say he’s not still a good performer. But I think I liked him better when he wasn’t so comfortable on stage. The other time I saw him, he seemed rather nervous about all of the people who seemed to be obsessed with him. This time he seemed like he was relishing people’s obsessions… he’d developed an ego. Much less humble. Much less appealing.
I guess I’ll have to look for some new people who are playing the music I like (so far it’s been difficult to find E. European/Gypsy/Swing artists, but I’ll keep looking).
Farewell, Andrew Bird. Good luck on your music journeys.
Until I get to see him again. I hope (but am pretty sure) that he’s evolved since the last time I saw him.

Saw him when he played a venue I worked in. Been to see him a few times since – he doesn’t come to London that often.
Even if you don’t like his music (personally, I am far more fond [I mean seriously in love] of his Eastern European/Swing days), see him live! He’s amazing! He plays the violin and loops it, then whips his guitar from behind his back while he whistles. Then to top it all off, he plays in his socks!
His performance was unlike anything I’ve every seen. He’s remarkably talented, funny, and seems very cool. I can’t wait to see him perform again.
this was the most amazing concert i’ve ever been to…
Andrew is a beautiful musican and wonderful performer!
