My first game couldn’t have been better. Boston was amazing. My trip was amazing. The sox came through for me, and swept the Yankees. I loved being by the Redsox bull pen. It’s definately something people should try to do while it Boston.
How to go to a Red Sox - Yankees game
How I did it: On July 4th, 2008 I saw the Red Sox play the Yankees in the old Yankee Stadium. I'm a die-hard Yankees fan and I'd never been to New York before, so for my birthday my family got me tickets to see a game in the final season of the stadium. What better game than a 4th of July game between the biggest rivals in history? Even though my team lost, it was an amazing experience and I loved every single second of it!

Just bought tickets for the 4-20 game. The first Sox/ Yankee game of the season. YES!
Yankee vs. Red Sox games are the best! I’m a Yankee fan so I’ve only seen them play at Yankee Stadium, although I’d be willing to go to Fenway. I’ve seen the Yankees play the Red Sox 3 times…and by the end of the summer, I will have seen them play each other 6 times. :) A great experience!
I went last night to the Yankees Red Sox Spring Training game at Legends. Although it’s simply spring training and the numbers don’t count, the rivalry was still in full force and the game was still just as exciting as a regular season game in the Bronx or Boston. Go Yanks!!!
The fans at Fenway Park are outspoken – to say the least – when it comes to their Yankee hatred. It’s occasionally more interesting to watch the crowd if it’s a slow game. Interactions and tensions are obvious. It should be VERY interesting to see what happens in the ‘06 season with Johnny Damon on the Yankees.
And while a baseball game is often just a game, a Sox-Yanks game is truly an experience.
Well, this is an excellent experience for any adult. I sometimes wonder about people taking smallish children to these games though. I’ve been to a few now that we’ve had a ticket package for a few years (which is great by the way and WORTH DOING though nearly impossible to get now), and we’ve seen small fisticuffs, of course the ubiquitous and extremely aggrevating Yankees chant, as well as less than tactful insults hurled by fans of both sides. A bit too hostile for my tastes for a young child. However for older kids and adults knowing the tension that can occur, it is a great rivalry, a night full of energy and usually something to enjoy win or lose. Of course, I prefer games like yesterday’s 17-1 drubbing that featured a grand slam by Ortiz, and an inside the park home run by “Speedy” Nixon… but hey, not every game can be like that can it? ;) The Sox tension-o-meter goes something like this: Yankees/Sox playoffs games, possible final game of a playoffs, a regular Yankees game, and then everything else.
