    Daily Practice! 3 years ago

Since I created this goal seven weeks ago, I have practiced yoga every day except for two (once because I decided not to; and once because I just forgot). So, I’d say that I’ve developed a daily practice. I’m still taking classes, and also practicing at home – and I’ve even practiced yoga at the community gardens once (and intend to do more of that in the future, as it was lovely practicing outdoors with the wind and sun on my face).

It’s not the hour per day that I originally stated as my goal, because I decided that it doesn’t need to be an hour per day to qualify as a practice. Some days it’s just 15 minutes. Some days, it’s three hours (or more). And all of it counts. As long as I’m connecting with myself, with my body, and encouraging the flow of prana throughout my being, that’s what matters. Speaking of which, I’m now going to head upstairs and do a quick yoga practice in the bathtub, of all places.

Still going strong 3 years ago

Since I created this goal, I’ve only missed one day (a week ago Saturday). Other than that, I’ve done yoga every day. Even if I only manage a very short practice (once I only did about 10 minutes of yoga right before bed), I feel that it’s helping me connect with myself, and to keep the energy flowing in my body and my life. So far, so good. :)

    Another week! 3 years ago

I’ve practiced every day this week, as well . . . even today when I really REALLY didn’t feel like it (low energy, a hint of a headache). But I got up and went to class, and I was gentle with myself and didn’t push it, and I’m really glad that I went. So far, I’m doing great with a daily practice – I want to keep this momentum going. :)

So far, so good. 3 years ago

Since I set this goal for myself, I’ve been able to keep it. I’ve done yoga every day for the past week, including two sessions at home. GO ME! ;)

Oh, and I forgot to add that I got some great news during the past week – the teacher training has been reworked and rescheduled, and is BACK ON! So, I’ll be starting in June. I’ve already got one of my textbooks. YES!!!!!!! happy dance

Right now, it seems obvious that the universe wants me to be doing yoga. A lot of yoga. And I’m happy to oblige. :D

Time to go deeper with my practice 3 years ago

I had intended to start a teacher training program next month, but unfortunately it was cancelled. But I’m not letting myself get discouraged . . . instead, I’m going to do what I need to do to get my own practice as strong as possible, while I decide what to do next (to wait for the next time a training is offered at my studio, or perhaps find another program sooner).

In looking at the requirements to take the program at the Kripalu center in Massachussetts, they recommend that you have a daily yoga practice, and that sounds like a very good place for me to start. I don’t want to just do yoga – I want to live yoga. Having a daily practice will really help me with this.

This weekend, I’m planning to take an afternoon course called “Bring Your Practice Home,” which will hopefully give me some ideas about how to create and maintain a home practice. I have tried to do yoga at home before, but usually feel uninspired and have a hard time staying focused. And since I don’t intend to go to a formal class every day (I’d like to stick with my three or four times a week class schedule), I’ll need to start doing yoga at home. My goal is one hour per day.
