help women in domestic violence

I really want to support PEOPLE who are in situations where they do not feel safe at home.

At the current time in my life, it feels more like a good idea than something that’s doable.

I’m taking this off my list for now.
I will pick it up again later when i can see a direct/concrete path.

this goal and am going to try to volunteer at the Mission teaching reading in my “free time”.

& today happened upon a couple where in broad daylight – he was beating her in public with lots of people around.

People just stood around & looked at eachother & looked at the ground.

I couldn’t NOT say something.
and I’m heartbroken that in a crowded area the folks who had been watching this unfold didn’t say anything. where is the humanity?

She didn’t want to leave him, and I wonder if my “butting in” was a contribution…

I volunteer with the Victim Support Team in Seattle. The program is organised through the Seattle Police Department. VST’s assist victims of domestic violence during the weekend period when other services are limited. It is a really rewarding program that is doing what it can to keep men, women and children safe from domestic violence.
