take a train across the US

i kinda went from the north to the south. i went from chicago to houston. it was pretty awesome. i was allergic to the curtains in my bunker however. but it was still awesome

I’m a big fan of the travel writer/novelist Paul Theroux, who’s written some marvelous books about train travel: The Old Patagonian Express, Riding the Iron Rooster and The Great Railway Bazaar. What could be more thrilling than watching the scenery outside the window change from urban gray skyscrapers to green and yellow plains of the heartland to sunny desert sands to purple mountains capped with snowy peaks. Someday.
