improve my bass playing

One day my best friend called me up saying “Our bassist quit the band, can you play with us please?”, I hadn’t played in over a year and even back then I very very rarely practiced. So, the day they called was also the day of my first rehearsal with them, and also the day I started playing seriously. It’s almost 3 months later now and I don’t feel like I can keep up with our quite talented guitarist and drummer. I’m anxious they might fire me and my mantra has become “You’re the only bassist they have!”
I just want to improve to a point where I am comfortable at rehearsals because playing bass really is a lot of fun for me (not to mention how cool I look while I do it hahahahaha)

I used to play the bass every day. When I was in my teens I played in several bands and would practice and rehearse pretty much every day. I let things slide though.

A few years ago I bought a bass again but after nearly 10 years of not playing my chops were just gone. I felt like a recovering stroke victim trying to recover lost skills. It was just easier to forget about it and not try.

About a year ago I started playing with a band again but not really committing the time to get good again. I want to get over myself and put in the time I need in the woodshed.

I’ve been playing bass for about 2 years, and guitar for four. I am really in love with the bass though, and get more time in for practice. It’s really hard when I play a couple of other instruments in my HS band as well, but I hope to make time. I’d like to take on double bass as well; I love bowed string instruments.

I was having lessopns in my house but at certain times especially the summer months the instructors become very busy gigging. I have partiicipated in the Jazzmobile workshop this past winter and I totally recommend it to anyone interested in learning to play

I decide to play bass at least 15 minutes by day!

i would really love to be skilled enough to get music from myself to my bass

i have learn walking bass lines .. this have emprove my notion of harmony in bass

i´ve just been playing bass since january but since i play the guitar pretty good, it helps a lot. ive had to play some tough stuff live but i can be really better.

Of course I could get better, but I made a concentrated effort and really improved… and it’s just so much more fun to play now.

i’ve been playing bass since sep.2004 in the high school band,i came to virginia in may,haven’t got a chance to play it for a month,i really miss it.i know i still am not good at it,but i just totally love it,and i’ll find a way to keep it up.
