And plenty of time left to go. Have noticed that virtually everything we own falls into two categories: rock specimens and fragile items. As long as I don’t put them together in the same box, I think we’ll be okay.

4 weeks to go

The seller of the house we’re buying finally signed the contract, so we’re good to go! Filled out the mortgage forms (not a big deal for us, we’re not exactly first time buyers), and have started boxing and clearing things out. Finding lots of boxes that I needed to keep 12 years ago, but can shred and recycle now. :)

We’re buying a house! It’s the same one I thought we’d lost, but the other buyer couldn’t come up with the financing, plus I think he was being a butthead, so for a couple more bucks, the seller dropped him and is selling to us.
The inspection report has quite a few things on it, but only 2 were a surprise. Plus, since the seller really likes us, she’s going to go ahead & fix all the little dinky things before we move in. [I think it’s karma – I did that for our buyers too.]
Yay! ::::happy dance::::
Now I just have a million and a half things to do. . .

Found a house that could work for us and someone else got in an offer before we could. However, my agent says that because of the market and the way New York does things with real estate contracts, deals fall through all the time, so we’ll see.
If it happens, great. If not, there’s something else out there that will work, just gotta find it.

I found a good ambulance squad to volunteer with in our new location, and I finally found a decent real estate agent. I can’t belive how stupid some of the agents are. Amazing they can earn a living.
And in a true measure of my priorities, I found a gym & a good pilates teacher before I found a new house. :)

Just when I thought I was in the clear. . .we had a water pipe leak. Now I have no working showers in the house (although we still have a working tub, so we can manage) and am planning my next couple weeks around the plumber’s schedule.
Oh the joy. Twelve years and we never had a plumbing problem. Sell the house, and now this. Bleah.

I have a “Good Will Hunting” fantasy, lol. I’ve only missed 4 days of work in 6 years, and I’m the type that if you call me and ask me to come in, I do. I just have this fantasy that one day…maybe soon…I won’t show up. They’ll call; I won’t answer. They’ll look for me…I’ll just be gone. I don’t know if I’d every actually DO it…probably not, I’d feel too bad about it…but man, do I think about it often….

Passed the home inspection yesterday with flying colors. The inspector was so over-the-top about how wonderful the place was and how the buyers were getting such a great deal, it was kinda funny. The only thing I need to fix is to turn a set-screw on the automatic garage door opener about a quarter turn to lighten the pressure release load (safety thing). As home inspections go, that’s about as dinky as it gets.
I was glad the buyer was here to do the walk-through with her – they are first-time homebuyers and my one big worry was that the extended escrow period would give them enough time to over-think things and get buyers remorse. Now they feel all comfy about buying the place, so I’m sure everything will go smoothly from here on out.
She didn’t pick up on a lot of the little things that have been stressing me out. Not sure if it’s because she didn’t see them, or because it doesn’t matter for the purposes of home inspection. Don’t care. We’re done. Yay!
Now I can start looking for the next place. . .

We just sold the house! Signed the contracts today. Got a good price, fair to them, fair to us. No agents involved on either side. We have an extended closing period, so hopefully I’ll have time to find a place up on Long Island and we can do a direct move.
