I’m currently in Sydney on a working holiday visa. I’m getting sick of the city and am ready to start backpacking around! Most of my traveling will be in November before I head back to NY, but I’m doing some weekend trips too. First up, Cairns/Great Barrier Reef this weekend!

its realisation that i won’t be able to save enough money by October
or maybe its ‘THE FEAR’ but i’m thinking of postponing the trip until January 2009 this way i can:
*save money without being broke all the time because that job in guernsey fell through =[
*have a good summer in the UK cause i won’t need to save as much each month
*i’ll be going over towards the end of their summer so i won’t die in the heat
i dunnno what to dooooo
sooo the first step is to save money right?!
well i’m going to work in Guernsey (no tax) from the 24th June saving about £150 a week
so by the time october comes around (i leave guernsey on the 7th October) in theory i should have close to £2000, then adding onto what i’ve saved already i will be close if not over £3000 which will be enough to go with
yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay
this is ACTUALLY going to happen!
started saving
told my friend i can’t move in with him anymore
and currently in the progress of getting another job to help fund it
me and my friend are going to go in October (money permitting, but i have the means to save £3000 by then) to travel and work for a year
eeeeeeeeeee
i’ll keep you updated =D
If anybody as done this then please give me any advice, me and my fiance are leaving in june to travel around oz in a camper van,we have the money for the camper van but would like to know how much money people usually take to travel with, and is it easy to find fruitpicking jobs to earn extra cash? Any advice will be much apreciated.
planned to go to Australia for World Youth Day next summer….but reality is kicking in….won’t have enough funds saved at this point. :(
but, that means i’ll be free to go to Costa Rica in February! if i find a roommate, that is….:/
i would really appreciate it if anyone who has experience travelling Australia as a backpacker would take 2 minutes to do my little survey?

THANX HEAPS!
If you’re thinking about backpacking around Australia, stop thinking and just do it. Don’t be afraid to go alone, you meet so many ppl and everyone is very friendly. Don’t forget the West Coast, it was one of my personal favorites and everyone I talked to that did both the west and east coasts liked the west better!
