I work be very very happy if my backyard was very nice, my sanctuary from the world. Replacing the chain link with a privacy fence would be a great start.

I was finally able to weed, mow, plant some ivy in the beds, plant my herb and veg containers, and put down mulch. I want to replace my furniture but I am waiting for my uncle to finish making my chairs and table.I planted Nandinas and a new climbing rose in the front yard and cleaned my porch. The work never ends, but luckily I enjoy this kind of thing.
we are moving at the end of the summer. I don’t think I need to worry about this one anymore, since it won’t be “my” yard any longer.

Mom & I got some of those hanging tomato planters and are hanging some tomatoes. The Boy, who got to help us fill them with soil thinks this is, “one of the most asinine things you have done in a long time.” I got treated to a lecture about root systems and sun.
I sure hope these things work, because I want him to eat his words in tomatoes :D I also put in some herbs.
The pond & fountain are ready for the year. Next I start on planters… I am also looking at putting in a bird feeder or two. The garden with the lilac bush border and the water elements is really starting to attract birds. A sign if a good garden in my opinion. Today I saw a chipmunk and rabbits, in addition to cardinals, robins, wrens, a crow, and possibly a finch. Quite an assortment for a ranch house subdivision!
I am getting more done at Mom’s house then mine. I spend more time there, but I need to do some things at my house soon. Manana…

Almost every Memorial Day weekend I overhaul the back yard. But this year, I also have to work on the front and do a major change in landscaping. My neighbor’s Magnolia tree has a disease and it has spread to my bushes. I have started digging them up and I will be replacing them and will periodically treat the new bushes with an anti-fungal.I’ll post the before and after pics.

It is time to get back to work on this goal. In addition, I am doing some work at my Mom’s. I am not going to put in a vegetable garden in my yard this year. I am at Mom’s often enough that I am going to put it in her yard, we are doing container gardening for now.
It looks like I will need some plumbing work at my house which may involve ripping up two beds and part of the yard. I am waiting on those two beds until I know exactly what is being done. Perhaps I will wind up starting from scratch versus renewing.
This Sunday we are working on this a little more. The residents of the house have already worked to fix up the front flower garden and this Sunday we’re working on cleaning up the vegetable garden.
I want to plant a cottage type garden in my yard complete with roses, hydrangeas, wisteria, hollyhock, daisies, nasturtium, foxgloves etc…
A neighbour has agreed to fix the fences. Now I wonder where I should start. There seems to be some will at the moment and I may have a bit more time.

It is getting that time of year when the grass is starting to grow a bit in my part of the South where it is normally warm. Right now, though, getting out to work in the yard is not an option. We have been having so much rain lately that my front yard is a wet and muddy mess. I have a large bare area where I have been unable to get anything to grow. I am going to try and figure out what to do to this area this year. I want a fully green lawn!

“I picked up a freebie geranium (not a native, the decorative kind) and it is kind of leggy, old and tired looking, but it is flowering. Any ideas on how to rejuvenate it? I want it for a pot outside.”
