How I did it: I started by listening music only in English and try to read the lyrics, I also found friends whom I could only communicate in English, I watched TV, read books, only in English. Good tip: Watch TV with English subtitles so you can become familiar with the word and how to write it properly. Read how I did it…

The first time I got the subject at school I hated it. Probably because I was to young to understand what use learning another language could have (Yes I was and am such a dumb person). Of Course as I grew older I realised how important it was and still is to be able to speak, read and write english. The only problem was that when I got that enlightenment my englishskills I should have had at that time were non-existing. For years I lagged behind. I felt unable to catch up to the others. So I failed right at the start not even really trying to improve because I didn`t believe in myself.
I think it was three or four years ago that my attitude towards the english language changed. Thanks to some certain fandom and the fact that people who wrote in my mother tongue could just not provide creative and good written material. There was no choice but to turn to the english fandom and thankfully it wasen’t as plastered with gruesome fanfictions as the german fandom. So my dictionary and I became good friends.
But so far I`m still not content with my englishskills. There are a lot of spelling mistakes I make which I can lead back to my bad pronunciation. And I would like to enhance my vocabulary.
It became hard for me to read something else as english literature and when ever possible I watch english movies and series. So it shoudn`t be achievable to significant advance my english through that ambit.
What I`m thinking about though is to raise the nummber of radio plays I`m listening to. And I probably should look for some good language course CD for my pronunciation. Maybe I will even start to write my blog in english.

When I stopped working in China, I felt like I do need to do some makeovers when it comes to honing my basic skills in English. This is not alarming me though because I know that I am weak at this even before. But there’s another chance to succeed on this. Maybe I should making time for blogging, reading more books and listening to English TV channels.
I just need more time and effort. ;0
I did a master degree in the UK, and lived there for 15 months, I started watching TV in English, and of course, reading English websites.
