I have to fix some speaker cabinets that are worth, I think, too much to just throw away. They take up most of the log jam in the middle. That will take maybe 4 hours total. I also have about 40 violin cases my day job was discarding and I didn’t want to see them go into a landfill. Most are in very good shape. I haven’t been able to find anyone to take all of them, and though I don’t care to make a profit on them, they don’t sell well on ebay and I pretty much waste money listing them. So, the things left in the garage are the ones hardest to find homes for. There are a few boxes of stuff my parents insisted on my taking home from their house…they can be re-located to the attic. Thought that it would really help to have someone do this with me, and just say THROW THAT AWAY! Haven’t thought of who, yet. I’ll buy the beer.

How I did it: Took a few days here and there to pack up misc in the garage. Try to segment what belonged to others so they could come and get it to allow more space. And had a yard sale, sold on ebay, to get rid of some of the other things. Still have some work to do but DRAMATIC improvement, enough to call it done in my opinion :) Read how I did it…

Kerstin is working it out, girl!
We almost had the whole thign cleared out, then we had a death in the family, which set us back. I think a few more months and we’ll have it done

I’d say I’m almost halfway done. Getting a new car motivated me to clear some space.
I really thought I’d never get this done. Too big a hassle taking the car out then putting it back in when I’d finished for the day. Too awkward getting to things at the back. Too difficult to do in small doses because the only way to clear out the wardrobe was to pull everything out to sort it. Blah blah blah. Well the reality is that once I got into it I really got into it, and God help me I even enjoyed sorting out the crap – it was a real trip down memory lane lol! And I’m happy I sucked up my excuses and just bloody did it, cause now it’s done!
wow what was I thinking with all the crap I’ve kept? Oh well it’s getting sorted and tossed out now!

this goal has been on here forever. And the garage is still filled with junk (and good stuff too). We haven’t parked in there for years.
I really hate garage sales, but my husband has decided we should have one to clear out the crap and to make a few bucks at the same time. Maybe this time I’ll have some help and it won’t be so bad. My idea – have an (almost) everything $1 sale. I really just want to get rid of the stuff in there and the $ is just a side benefit.

It’s back on!
Okay, husband has been helping out a great deal on this one. He’s sick of the clutter as well and has been rearranging stuff in the garage and clearing out stuff.
We had a bunch of branches in the garage from a large storm that we didn’t put out for trash collection because they were big enough for the fireplace if they were cut down. Well, they’re cut down today! And a bucket of them have been brought into the family room with the fireplace. It makes a difference.

I need kickstart this goal and accomplish it soon as to consolidate my household items to a room and a garage portion. Since I am uncertain about my near future living arrangements, I think it best to over-constrain my goods to fit into a room and a part of the garage. But need a strategy and some microgoals.
- Set a reasonable goal date: End of November.
- Partition garage into “Retain” and “Discard” and “Charity” sections.
- Move empty storage racks into spare room to aid in further sorting interior room items.
- Research disposal options & costs (whether I rent a truck or I simply call a disposal service)
These are good for now.

It’s time to clean out some really useless items in the garage. I pride myself on my general minimalism. And on my own, I tend to live rather spartan but it seems that I collect a bit during cohabitation with an S/O.
