How I did it: I was promised an mp3 player for my 16th birthday, but I didn't pick one out until almost my 19th birthday. It just felt like there was the perfect mp3 player out there for me somewhere, I just had to find it. Took WAY too long, which is typical of me, but I love it!

    iPod Nano 80GB 19 months ago

    Ended up spending a little more than I wanted to, but when it came down to spending about $199 and getting 8GB or spending $249 and getting 80GB, well… It’s cheaper than being dissatisfied and needing to upgrade soon.

    Was able to test a Zune at Circuit City, but neither they nor Best Buy had any newer Samsungs to try.

    It’s such a pretty toy er, tool. I’m looking forward mostly to the podcasts I’ll download, but also to having all my music accessible.

    I bought the iPod and the DH and I bought a docking station so we can use it in the house, too. :)

    I've been getting great advice over at Ask Random Questions,... 19 months ago

    I think I’ve narrowed it down to 3 brands. PC World keeps loving iPod, people here like Samsungs, and then I’m reading about the Microsoft Zune on PC World and store ratings, and it looks good.

    There’s a 30gb Zune on sale for about what I see 8gb mp3 players selling for elsewhere today at Best Buy. Gonna go out and have a look and hopefully get my hands on some examples so I can really check them out.

    But I need to get to a store and handle them. I won’t decide till then. I think the Samsung 4GB or the ZUNE 4GB or 8GB might be what I go with…

    I want FM radio for tuning to the TVs at the gym, plenty of space for downloading music and podcasts, USB, and ease of use.
