improve my credit

I just learned that if you cancel a credit card while it still has a balance that it really screws up your credit. I signed up with Care One Credit Counseling in January, not knowing that they would actually cancel my cards (everything I read led me to believe that I would just not be able to use them until they were paid off). So doing the stupid Care One thing has made my credit even WORSE! I’m afraid to even look at my credit score now.

I’m so annoyed!

I want to make an effort to reduce my debt and improve my credit!

tuesday night is the night!! we will do our quicken and look at the spreadsheet with all our bills. and, most importantly, discuss where we are and where we are headed. forcing yourself to look at this stuff is half the battle. the enticement is ordering pizza so we have more time to meet and a little treat.

this is not working so well. we need a day to do this. tried to get up today and work on looking at bills, etc. need hubs in it with me ideally but i’m going to have to just to do it on my own.

be sure to pay your library fines. after i moved, the library contacted a collection agency…alll for a 60.00 fine. ouch. i finally paid it, but honestly didnt realize i even still had a fine (the collection agency never contacted me). i paid the fine last year, after about 2 years. but i wonder if i could contest the whole collection agency thing, as they never did get a hold of me? probably not.

going to college screwed my credit up, ive been out for 5 years now and would like to turn it around and actually be aproved for something

I ordered my free credit report from truecredit.com. to see what dings were on there. A lot of small things for lie 40- 150 dollars from utility companies when i moved and didin’t pay the final bill.
SO I plan on taking care of those AASAP. There is a biggie on there from 6 years a go for 2,000 some odd dollars. Half of that is made up of bogus interest fees that I refused to pay. The account is with some collection agency and the mark scheduled to drop off nect year but i want to try somethign I read about and see if I can remove it sooner. The technique is calle “Debt Validation” where you write the collection agency and ask them to verify the debt in detail. if they cannot do it they have to remove the debt!
I already disputed a few errors and got them removed . So Yeah!

SHould take care of this soon. FInd a good consultant here.

I want to have the opportunity to do things on my own and not be forced to ask someone with better credit to be a co-signer for me.
