I had a really bad month in February when three new classes I was planning all fell through in the same week. I had pretty much given up entirely on the Saturday class I was trying to find space for downtown. Then, suddenly, the issues around the space resolved themselves! I’ve been teaching the class for two weeks and it looks like it’s a go for April as well! Hooray :-)

I’ve made great progress with my goal this week. I sat down with a designer and streamlined my logo. It’s similar in concept (she actually thought I did a good job), but it’s more simple and very clean. I have the correct format to get real business cards made.
I completely redesigned my website (www.karmicwebyoga.com) and added a Twitter stream. I’m going to re-tag and categorise my entries and start updating the blog regularly. Very excited about this project!
Next steps: New CV, coverletter, so I can do another marketing blitz downtown. Also want to create a flyer for corporate yoga.
Moleskindesign is my fledling design and illustration business. I’mnot sure where I’mgoing with it at the moment but the idea is that I want to make things and sell them.
This ranges from handmade crafts to illustration prints and design work. At the moment I maintain my blog at moleskindesigns.wordpress.com and I’m seeing how things grow out of that
I have grown a very successful brand and I am very proud of the size and quality of my business. I need to be AWARE that it is now time to take it to the next level and not get complacent.
In order to stay competitive, a business needs to grow…
My goal is to steadily grow my business…
Hopefully keeping carbon levels to a minimum.
I’m not looking to take over the industry, but certainly have a nice share of the market…

I had the opportunity to expand. I went for it and my customer couldn’t wait for the amount of time it would have taken to expand. So, I didn’t. I have however, added a plan to this year’s business goals so that when the opportunity arises again, implementation will be easier.

That we are now outsourcing our screen printing. We found a local guy with all the equipment needing the work, so it’s beneficial on both our parts. We met with him again last night to work out on the details. Starting monday i don’t have to fill orders anymore.

But I don’t think I’ll mark this as complete until we hire our first employee. It’s just been dave and i so far. We have some contract freelancers working with us, but nothing full time. Now that we’ve launched our first e-commerce store we are looking to:
1) Outsource the printing of the clothing. I oringinally did it myself, but the orders are coming in faster than expected so it’s becoming hard to keep on top of them. We found someone locally who has the time & equipment to print them for us. He will also do the shipping.
2) Hire someone to do customer service. I’ve never been a phone person or even a service type person. I prefer to be the geek behind the scenes that just makes everything look pretty. Someone else can handle the people aspect of it. This will be our first employee.
3.) Take out a small loan. We’ve made it this far paying cash for everything. No loans, no help, nothing. We are currently a profitable business and getting a loan would give us a boost to add to our company in ways that will make it more profitable. Also, it would help the initial funding of our employee until the company is generating enough to fully cover their salary, which we could probably pull off within a couple of months.
Yay!!!
