I want to run 3 miles under 21 minutes on my USMC PFT. The course I run it on is extremely hilly (this is where I want to run under 21), overall I have achieved this goal on a track. But hey why not add it?

After 4 months of partying like a friggin’ rockstar, not training, and overall smoking too much, I’m inspired to pick this up again.
With the inspiration driven from Angel, Saralyn, and Mitch… I tested my 5K time today to get a base for the next 16 weeks. 38:59.
OMGFAIL.
My treadmill is set for KMs…. I’ve seen many of the MMA fighters on the “All Access” type shows do it in 21 minutes or less. Some of these guys look to be highly trained athletes. Might be a worthy goal. I’m wondering if 18 minutes is a possability too?
chadler is getting in killer shape.
My sister’s in cross country and it’s been a huge goal of mine to help her out. My personal fastest in Xcountry was 21:33, I think, so it’ll be the fastest I’ve ran if I can nail 21.
36 y/o smoker weighing in at 210 lbs, 5’10”. Looking to quit and make three miles in 21 minutes. The goal is a high one but I am going to give it a whirl. I will use the 1.3 mile track at lake montebello. Three turns at the track, shooting for 60 minutes walk, run, push or be pulled.
Failed to do this in 21 minutes by Tuesday 19 which was my personal challenge. I got a stitch after 7 minutes which wouldn’t go away. Now I am going to run everyday for a week.
The trick to getting this done is to actually run much longer distance more slowly to build up your strength.
I actually got fit enough to do this by following a marathon training program.
I actually managed this in November by some distance. Ran 3 miles in 19mins 55secs on a treadmill. I’ve eased off a little since then but I am about to start a training program for a place I have in the London marathon!
