I really can say that we are readin much more these days and my son is developing a mini obsession with book, particularly those which feature trains and monkeys!
People doing this are also doing these things:

I have been quite regularly reading more to my two year old, Zein, and I think that this has increased partly due to my willingness but also to his greater attention span! Now all the books I had bought him last year, we have read over and over and its time to get a library card! I think I’ll take him tonite!
I would be happy if I could organize a good routine with Zein so that we could share at least one story a night together..he is little but reading is soooo important.
We read through the really good books, Like the Redwall series.
While my oldest was at dance, I took my neice and youngest to Chapters. My daughter found 2 books to read and one was Dora. It was fun reading and it showed pictures of words that she knew and feel like she was reading.
As I said on another post, my daughter and I stopped in and read for about 15 minutes. It was nice, no rushing around, just sitting and reading. We’ll have to do this more.
My 3 year old likes me to read the Madeleine series of books and friends bought a large compendium of these stories for her one Christmas. It is a beautiful book. I am also going to try and get my older daughter to read more non-fiction books. I’ll have to take her to the library or Chapters to get her set up.
