Having only done the occasional mat pilates class at the gym, I’ve been considering signing up for one which uses the reformer. My biggest concern is cost, ‘cos these classes don’t come cheap, but I thought I’d sign up for a 4-class foundation course just to see if I’d enjoy it.

How I did it: A friend introduced me to a new pilates studio with a great grand opening special, prices I couldn't pass up! Now I'm in love with this workout and was even approached regarding my interest in becoming an instructor! Read how I did it…
How I did it: Fortunately, the new club I joined was giving away 1 free Pilates class demo, otherwise one session can be pretty pricey. The class was 45 minutes & instead of an introductory class, it felt like advanced! I can absolutely see how people who do pilates are in rockin' shape because you work just about every muscle in your body! I am sure that tomorrow my whole body is going to ache! Read how I did it…

i am very aware of my “power house” now. when i say “aware,” i don’t mean just that i know where it is, but i can feel it, and it hurts. ouch. it is getting easier, though.

isn’t “pilates” the last name of the guy that invented the “pilates” exercise techniques? do you think he only named it after himself so that he could hear thousands of women everywhere say that they are “doing pilates?” just curious.
Today I took the 5th of the first batch of pilates classes. Worked with a great instructor. Learning the basics still. Did some great stretching and strengthening! Saturday I’ll start the next batch of classes…eight in this batch.
I signed up for 5 sessions at a pilates studio and took the first today. The way the pricing structure works you start out with the initial 5 sessions for one price, then the next 8 sessions are at a lower rate, the next 8 are at a lower rate, etc. And you are getting more adept at what you are doing so need less instruction thus they can lower the costs. Anyway today I trained with the owner of the studio whose background is in ballet. I liked his method. He was low-key and yet patient and focused. I have two more scheduled next week! One goal: improve my posture. and I think it will compliment my running as well. picture is of John Gossett in his ballet days.

it was senior citizens class, it was good for me for a start and now i move on to other things. back pain is history.
at start it was totaly exosting, and at the end it was way too light for me. i don’t know if it is cus they changed excercises in the mean time for those that are lighter to me (now focus in on arms and it was on legs before), but i know that ladies around me were huffing and puffing while i felt nothing. not that i am comparing myself with people 20y older than me. since they changed excercises and instructor, i can’t compare to myself. i feel stronger and my walk is different now.
i drop the class for 2 reasons: it is march challenge now so i’ll be at that time on erg (cant be on 2 places at the same time)
and, i need leg strength and since they changed excecise, there are almost no leg work any more.
if i were free at that sime slot, i would continue to go becouse of all those core excercises, it is simly great!
i have pilates DVD so i can use it at home someday if i wish.
