Second Lesson with Pictures! 17 months ago

I rode Glowie this week. She wasn’t as docile as Jake, but that allowed me to learn how to control a bratty horse. My mom came along and took some photos and videos!

I did it! 17 months ago

I had my first riding lesson yesterday! I had it at a barn another cow town over, where my friend takes lessons and houses her horse, Doby.

I fell off again, randomly. The horse tripped while walking, fell forward, and propelled me off to the left side. I held on and then having realized that I couldn’t let myself down gracefully (this horse was pretty tall) I let go and fell on my butt. Didn’t hurt at all, was more funny then scary.

I have another lesson next Thursday and another after that I hope!

not enough extra money in this economy to learn how to ride a horse :(

I went riding 2 years ago

with one of my friends who just leased a horse today. She’s been taking lessons and riding for about a year. Her house is 18 and named Doby. I haven’t ridden in over a year and it felt great to be up on a horse again. I got to trot and canter a bit.
The last time I cantered I almost fell off. My right foot came out of the stirrup and my grip on the reins loosened and to the right side I went. Thankfully I grasped onto the horse’s neck and slowed him down.
So I was a bit nervous to canter, but when I started a trot on Doby he turned it into a canter for a few seconds and then back to a trot. His canter was very relaxed with a good gait. So I tried to get him to canter. It took forever, and I only got one good canter on him, but it was fun.
My friend rode him once more to cool him down and we put him back in his stall. I had a great time and it made me want to take lessons even more. I love the connection that occurs between horses and their riders. It’s so personal.
