I played in elementary and middle school, but it wasn’t so much about learning how to play as it was about memorizing snippets of songs. I’d love to play on my own terms.

How I did it: I dug around in my old boxes from high school and found some scale books and primers which I HATED to touch.I started out with a half hour a day of tinkering and getting my hands readjusted to tickling the keys.Cramps and getting cross-eyed trying to remember how to read music again really aggravated me the first couple of weeks. This last 6 months I have begun to remember some of the pieces I played for my recitals and I now can sit down … Read how I did it…

I adored the piano, and I still learn it, really. But I’ve always wanted to drop it. One day during practice, I realized how much I really did love the piano, and now I’m going after my dream of finishing all the grades.
I had lessons for a year or two at my parents’ behest, then I stopped because I didn’t have any interest in music at all.
Now I rue the day that I decided to quit.
I can still read sheet music, but I don’t think I was ever taught about minor scales and chords. Well, at least I don’t remember. Still, I’ve spent the last two weeks trying to bang out a Clementi sonatina and it actually seems to be fairly manageable.
I think it’s probably going to be a lot easier now than when I was seven, because now that I actually like the piano and genuinely want to master it, I am more keen to practise. This’ll be fun!
indiesyay91 Grr!
I’ve been playing since I was eight years old, but I’ve completely stopped since my junior year in highschool (I’m a senior now). So for a christmas performance, my sister has asked me to accompany her on “Chestnuts Roasting On An Open Fire”, she sings and I play. So I began to arrange the piano parts, and am COMPLETELY IN LOVE with it again. The arrangements just came to me, almost a slap in the face saying, “Don’t Ever Stop Playing!” Haha, so yes, I’m looking forward to starting back up, since it is towards the end of my school year so I won’t be swamped with AP work anymore. Yay !

I played the piano for twelve years up until I graduated from high school and then life got hectic and I stopped playing. I’ve just begun to realize how it calms me and I love the feel of the keys as they create a beautiful piece of classical music. So I will committ to attempting to practice once a week for this month and see how it goes.
I used to be put in piano classes and actually remember dreading it and now wheneever I hear someone playing it or something that has to do with this musical instrument I almost have the same replay in my head of me telling myself you coulda been really great at it. And if I had the time, and patience now I would definitely take it up again. This time my hearts in it more so when I was 14

Well, I’ve had piano lessons when I was 16. And I absolutely loved it, but didn’t bother to practice enough. Now, I’m 26 and live in a shared flat with some friends and a PIANO! So, I should, could, would like to restart playing the piano again. And I think I will try to do it!
I’ll keep you posted!

I learned when I was 6 but didn’t want to practice. I started learning again when I was 17 but stopped to focus on my HSC. I had lessons for a while when I was 21, but stopped because it was too expensive. I’d like to learn again and stick with it this time.

I really would like to take piano lessons again, but hate that they are so expensive! Plus, I don’t have a piano at home, so I would have to play at uni, which makes me probably less motivated to practise. But, I really really want to play the piano! So I’ll just see, I’m going to try to get a job in the fall, if I make enough money I think it’s absolutely worth it to spend it on piano lessons. So hopefully I’ll find something good and make a lot of money ;) Till then I’ll just play the flute; more practical in a student home :)
