I want to pay off all of my outstanding debts accrued from buying now and worrying later. I racked up a total of £26,000 in student loans, graduate loans, personal loans, family loans and friend loans. To be honest I didn’t have much to show for it either. I was simply spending more than I was earning, especially when I wasn’t working.

It took me 16 months to do but I managed it and it’s one of my greatest accomplishments I’ve achieved in my life.

Paycheck to paycheck.... 5 months ago

It’s not a great feeling. I grew up with 7 other siblings and so I’ve been working since the 10th grade. The bad thing is, I have no money saved up but we were never taught about how to save and plan financially for out futures. Now I am 25 years old with about $8000-$10,000 and I have no idea where to begin.
I owe family members money, I owe three credit card companies money and then I have small various outstanding bills (Columbia House DVDS, pay day loans, old cell phone bills, gym bills, etc, etc).
Having a lot of debt does not make me feel good at all! I just don’t know where to begin…

I am the sad holder of student loans. Making progress, but it is a real pain inthe A to pay off what amounts to a new car right out of school.

No more credit cards! 9 months ago

I’ve paid off my credit card and opened a savings account! I do still have student loans out there, but i’m still in school so i will work on those when they come. ;)

I’ve never been the greatest with money, but I never got in too far over my head. Then I got divorced. I went from being a SAHM for five years, to being a working mom. And I was laid off twice in three years. So the finances went all to bits. So now I have debt like I’ve never had before. I don’t like it, and I’m actively working to pay it all off and get back on a firm financial footing.

I have only recently put myself on a budget and formed a plan to pay off my credit card by December. I CAN DO IT!!! No more wasting money for me, from now on I’m debt free and asking God how he wants me to use the resources that he has blessed me with!!

Okay... 1 year ago

too much shopping during the summer…

So I have a new plan. I start not using any of my credit cards when school starts. I pay off all of the balances that are smaller ($500 or less) while paying minimum on the higher ones. Then, start paying more on those when the smaller ones are done. I think I can do it. I seem to shop less while I’m at school.

And my rent is less this year so that should help.

Getting There 1 year ago

I know that it will take me a long time to pay off all of my debt, considering I have buco-bucks out in student loans and still a year and half (at least) of schooling to go. But I believe I am off to a good start.

I have quite a few credit cards and have just recently paid off two of them completely. The other ones I haven’t used for about a month. I may possibly be getting closer to not being such a shopaholic.

I’ve realized making lists of things that I need and sticking to said list helps ALOT. Right now I’m hoping that I can keep it up. I’m not going to lie, I love new things. Especially clothes and movies. But I believe, if I keep reminding myself of bills and the how good I’m doing so far, that I can keep it up and I will make it!

i hate that this is a goal 2 years ago

i am one of those people who pays extra payments and always puts some away in savings so how did i get into so much debt?! well all i can do is look forward. i’m leaving my credit card at home. i’m going to make this happen.

Why can’t I stop using those damn credit cards? I’m the world’s biggest impulse buyer. This is the year that I put a stop to all this stupid debt. I make enough to easily get rid of it, for God’s sake, just do it already.
