After comparing local gyms, membership fees and monthly dues, I decided to purchase a treadmill of my own. I can’t wait until it arrives! With my busy work schedule, having a treadmill in my apartment is the ideal solution. I don’t have to worry about getting to the gym before it closes or waiting for the equipment I want to be available. OR trying to get a daily run in during the daylight hours. I think within the next 30 days, I will be able to complete and continue this goal :)

I was doing this over the summer – I was making it to the gym at least 6 times a week, for at least 30 minutes. Since school started, I’ve stopped, and I really want to get back into it.

The gym at school has discounted rates for personal training for students. I signed up about two weeks ago, and had my first session/assessment with the trainer. Basically, I found out I have a lot of reasons to exercise regularly – weight loss and looking better, yeah, but also I need to build up my endurance, strength, and flexibility. Also, health problems run in the family, so that’s incentive as well.

It looks like I’m going to be meeting with my trainer once a week. My initial goal is going to be to try to work out at the gym three times a week for 30 minutes. Then, I’ll up it to four and five and then six times a week, gradually. She said for healthy hearts, experts say to aim for five times a week, 45 minutes each workout, and for weight loss, six times a week, 60 minutes each workout. I’m hoping I can build up to that.

and how true it is. If I could just GET STARTED. It’s taking that first step of changing my routine… you know from “i worked a 9 hr day, now i’m going to go sit on my couch and eat ice cream while i watch mindless tv” to “i worked a 9 hr day, now i’m going to reward myself with getting up and going to the gym or riding my bike to do something good for my body.” I’m here to help encourage others and check in on your progress if anyone would like to do the same for me! :o) Just contact me if there is someone out there needing to be accountable to a another person… we’ll just have to use the honor system! :o) Best of luck to everyone with this goal!
