    Week 4 | May 8th 3 years ago

Goal: Exercise 4 times a week:
(20 minutes rebounding a day before breakfast to wake up !)
2 runs (of which one with Katcolorado)
    1 yoga session
1 other activity – Davina DVD or walk or skate or swim

Last week I managed 3 sessions, plus lots of walking. I’m going to try and better that this week and achieve 4 times. I only managed one run last week, not sure why. I have the time and no excuse, so should really make exercise a priority !

    Week 3 | May 1st 3 years ago

Goal: Exercise 5 times a week:
3 runs (of which one with Katcolorado)
    1 yoga session
1 other activity – Davina DVD or walk or skate or swim

New goal! Week 1 | March 10th 3 years ago

Alongside my new weight goal (to lose 6 kg by the summer) I aim to exercise 5 times a week:
3 runs (of which one with Katcolorado)
    1 yoga session
1 other activity – Davina DVD or walk or skate or swim

I will update my activities here and will review progress after 5 weeks. Even in a bad week I’d like to achieve 3 sessions :-)

    Extending goal 3 years ago

I’ve decided to keep tracking this goal until I’ve lost the weight. I had a good week last week, I ran 3 times, did the DVD twice and went to yoga.

Goal is slipping a little bit 3 years ago

Haven’t been too good the last week with exercise. I stopped running when I had my cold and the last week I’ve been focussing on interviews and literature review. I only managed the DVD and yoga last week…. I’ll do a few more weeks before closing this goal!

Goal is nearly finished! 3 years ago

I think I’ll track my exercise here for one more week, then tick this goal off :-) Running has become part of my week and my fitness is definitely improving!

    Mon: DVD 45 minutes
Tues: Run & Walk 40 minutes
    Weds: 2 hours snowboarding
    Fri: 1.5 hours yoga

I went to a trial yoga lesson this evening in central Zurich and it was just wonderful. For the 90 minutes I forgot my aching neck and shoulders and my cold miraculously dried up. I stretched and balanced and relaxed at the end and walked home feeling loose and calm and wonderful! It’s hatha yoga and the teacher is a very soft spoken, calm, south african woman. Unusually for Zurich you can pay per lesson, normally you have to sign up for a subscription of 10 lessons. It’s chf 25 for 90 minutes which is about as much as I can afford. I’d like to go each week, but it might be every other week. I think it’ll be a good complement to the running and aerobics I do and will hopefully teach me how to relax and meditate!

Running in snow made easy! 3 years ago

I bought snow chains for my trainers today ! :-)
I’ve been doing my hour lap of the Uetliberg for a few weeks now, but it’s been getting progressively harder because of the snow and compacted ice on the mountain, which means I’ve been walking / skating / slipping and nearly falling, rather than running! So today I went into our local “Bergsport” shop whcih is just down the road from us, and bought these great heal spikes. They fasten over your trainers and your heel then has spikes. I was able to do my circuit in 58 minutes and managed to keep up my 3minutes running / 1 minute walking for most of the circuit (apart from the 16 minute uphill climb at the start) and it felt great! I didn’t slip once as long as I remembered to dig my heels into the ice first!
