Read the entire Bible

I’ve read the entire New Testiment a couple times…
I’ve worked through some of the Old a few times, too. But the Old gets me every time. I always end up skipping to the New again.

I’m reading through it again now, and I’m on Numbers. Still a long ways to go… I’ll get there eventually.

I'm still on Samuel  — 5 days ago

But I’m reading the novel The Song of Hannah while I read the book of Samuel. I really like doing this. It’s parallel stories. One from the man’s point of view and one from the women’s point of view. I think I really absorb it well this way.

Think if I ever taught a Bible as Literature class, I would teach it this way too. I’m really enjoying this.

Does anyone have any other biblical fiction to recommend? I could do this for every book!

Another thing where I feel like I’m slipping as a Christian…
I’ve never actually read all of the bible…
And I think if I devote maybe a half hour a day…eventually I can do it…

In mid-Juin, I started going to the local Pentecostal church’s youth group. The third week in a row you attend the group, you get a biblezine, which is the New Testament, in the form of a magazine. I haven’t always been reading in it as much as I want to, but so far I’m up to the book of John. I find the three first books were repetitive, but that’s a good thing in a way, because I remember more about them. I’m really enjoying reading the Bible, because the more I read, the more my faith grows.

I guess my goal was the read the Bible in one year, although “Read the entire Bible” doesn’t have a minimum time attached to it. So I’m still working on it, but I’m horribly behind, so it won’t be done in a year.

Jeremiah  — 2 weeks ago

Just finished this yesterday. I am about 3/4 of the way through Genesis as well. I’m really enjoying this goal.

*Whew* This is hard...  — 2 weeks ago

I had to make up for four days worth of readings this Sunday to make sure I’d stay on track. I may just read ahead of schedule on days where I have more time than others. Right now, the daily dosages include Job, Pslams, Proverbs, and Romans. Not really a big fan of Romans but the other stuff makes up for it. I also reread a lot to make sure I’m not droning or skimming just to get through it.
