I've erased my profile 3 months ago

on a few websites i was spending too much time checking. (If I simply make the resolution of not posting again I know I won’t keep it, I had to be drastic). I also quitted Travian and Pet Society and other games on Facebook.

I’m keeping:
43things
goodreads
bookmooch
filmaffinity
livejournal
twitter
listography
delicious
my blog

and I feel I’m forgetting something. Oh, Google reader.
It’s too much time anyway but it’s a start.

OK... 15 months ago

...so by not using the internet during working hours (9 to 5) and less in the mornings these last two days, I am really cutting down my internet usage. I’m usually more or less constantly on it during work, because I have a really dull computer job.

I think the internet makes me hyper, because I notice my mind has slowed down a lot since I started this. I’m also getting a lot more Japanese language study done, hehe ^^;;

Three days without internet!, and without wanting it (well, just a little).

but at least I participate instead of being a lurker like before.

House Huting Takes Up the Most Time... 2 years ago

As does this writing. Either way, now that I’m officially banned from house hunting for a month, this goal will probably be in the bag.

Now just to stay away from dress shopping and pants hunting and Ebay. Never mind Perez. Those are the real goals, right?

Another Goal... 2 years ago

I need to find something else to do with my time. I think I’m bored at home when I get home from work, and the Internet is the perfect mindless activity. I’d rather be reading or watching TV, because most of what I do on here is hunt for houses that I can’t afford. Great logic.

I’ll start with 2 hours a day on the weekends, and 1 hour a day during the week. We’ll see how it goes.

with three hours a day. Next week less!

EDIT: Did well for the first two days, on weekend I wasn’t even near a computer because I was busy on saturday and ill on sunday, yesterday it might have been 4 hours, today I don’t really know (all morning) but I’m watching online movies so it maybe could count as TV-time :P (no)

Much improved on this. 2 years ago

Putting this into my conscious thought has really made a difference. I feel great about this week and will consider this goal complete. It was a short intervention of sorts. It’s always there to reintroduce if the need be.

I was successful 2 years ago

in not hangin out at 43T for hours yesterday. In fact, I didn’t log in after yesterday morning. I did check my email LOTS of times, though, so I was only half-heartedly successful. This is going to be my one visit to 43T today and I’ve already checked my email this morning. I will check my email once more tonight and THAT’S IT! Ultimately I am going to have to change this goal to UNPLUG FOR A DAY or WEEK or LONGER. I am letting the internet control me way too much!

Hmm… I love how once you write something down, you can reread it and see how pathetic you sound. I am totally trying to justify why I cannot go without checking email at home (which always leads to tons of surfing). Now that I think about it, I really only need to check my work email daily. My personal email isn’t so important that I need to check it daily. If in fact I did this, then I could restrain from being on-line at home for an immeasurable amount of time. Yikes!

Okay, so for today I am going to let this be my ONE visit to the internet. gulp

BYE BYE

Today 2 years ago

I am only going to visit 43T twice today. Last night I logged in several times and I realized that enough is enough. I have to find a better use of my time (like working on my goals). Ha!

Here is my morning log in.
