one of my brothers is an freemason and i’m extremely intrested in becoming one myself
How to become a Freemason
How I did it: It was different in some ways than I thought it would be. My Lodge had not had any new members in more than 10 years so getting ready took more time than usual. Right from the start these men welcomed me and offered their friendship. I petitioned in July 06 and was raised in July 07. I guess the biggest difference for me is that it makes me think about everything I do. It is like having a friend always by your side encouraging you to take the high road.
Lessons & tips: Find the Lodge closest to you, they are usually in the phone book. They will more than happy to help you in any way they can. Be patient.

I just finished a book about Freemasonry today called “The Everything Freemasons Book” by Ph.D John K. Young, and Barb Karg. Next I’m going to read The Complete Idiots Guide to Freemasonry.
Three of the brothers came by my house on Monday and interviewed me. I think it went very well. At the end of the interview they told me to sit tight and they would get ahold of me for what happens next.
I got a phone call today from one of the lodge members, then he came by my work and he wanted to set up a time with me, him and two other lodge members to interview me at my house. I was happy when he showed up at my work and asked for me when I was on break.
I think they’re gonna come over Monday night.
Just dropped off my money to the lodge for my first degree. They’re going to read and vote on my petition tomorrow. Then I’m likely to get a call on Saturday for my interview.
I’m paying my EA fee on Thursday, and then the Lodge is gonna read my petition….of course I’ll get a vote of yes, I’m paying for my first degree already.

The organization is definitely worth doing. The values that the Masons hold true to heart definitely coincide with my own. I was able to make close friends across various generations of people that truly cared for me. Life has been too hectic to keep up with meetings, but I will definitely become more active in my later years.
