How I did it: I applied through IE3 Global Internships at Oregon State University who acted as a liaison to Enlace Quiché, a social enterprise in Guatemala where I worked for six months as an unpaid intern in web development. Read how I did it…

I´ve got the visa and I`m ready to move in 10 days, starting work in 2 weeks. Yay!
I still want to do this, but with the economy as it is, it seems like it’s much more of a shot in the dark. At the same time, if I do get into this program, it can give me experience while waiting out this recession…
- all paperwork completed on my part
- waiting for update from employer´s side
- getting ready to make lists of all the things I need to do before moving
- trying not to get too impatient waiting for my visa :)
_bumble_bramkin_ is gettin ready to parrrrtay!!
work abroad for a few months but im quite scared a dunno how to sort it out or were to go and what to do! I deffinately want to do this though maybe after university!
It seems the program I applied to ran out of spots this time around. I’m still waiting to officially hear from them, but right now it doesn’t look good.
I’m not sure what I will do now, especially with the economy the way it is. I still want to go though.
I tryed to find a job abroad but didn´t find anything.. thick i will try again if the job i have now don´t work for me anymore
Plan A: one of my 2 interviews in Michigan might work out
Plan B: I found an agency that arranges paid internships in the US.
One of those 2 simply has to work out :)
I will ask my boss about taking a week off work and get him to sign the form. Then I can book my flight and start worrying what to wear for my interviews ;)
A little about myself: 28-years-old, American, 4-yr B.A. in Intl Studies/Communication, speak some Spanish, and lived abroad in England for a little under a year.
My question is: Does anybody know of any programs for Americans, who are no longer in college, to work abroad? Now that I have graduated from college I would like to go abroad again to work. I applied for the JET Program (Japan) but was not short-listed unfortunately. I prefer government programs but am open to other reputable programs as well.
Thanks!
Suki
