visit Gambier Island

Ah yes… I meant to check this off when we got home on Sunday. We had a fantastic time (more on the trip here and here), and we’re hoping to go back again later this summer. Next time we want to stay longer, but we managed to pack a lot into our little getaway. It was great to spend extra time with family and good friends, and the mini-break from technology was nice too. It’s so beautiful and relaxing there. S I G H

We’d been hoping to visit our friends on Gambier Island and make it to a celebratory jazz brunch they’re having tomorrow in honor of their first anniversary there. We’ve decided we can swing it! We need a break, the last couple of weeks have been pretty hectic.

We’re going to aim for the late afternoon ferry today, so we need to wash up, pack some things quickly (we’re camping), and hit the road.

YAY!!! It’s espresso holiday time! I’ll catch up when we get back.

We were having such a good time that we stayed another night. We got home about an hour ago (barely, we were one of the last 3 cars they let on the ferry). I’m pooped and dearly in need of a hot bath. I’ll write more/post more pictures of our trip later. Wow.

We’re off to catch the fairy in about an hour, I think I’ll start with the espresso packing. Woot!

It looks as if we’re going to head off Thursday.

Markus is ringing Trent & Dedrie tomorrow evening to finalize plans. We’ll just be going overnight, but we’re good at packing quite a bit into short trips. And we’d actually be perfectly happy just lying in the grass, visiting our friends & doing a whole lot of nothing.

Trent came into town yesterday and spent the night here – it was great to see him & we’re trying to find a good time for us to visit him & Dedrie. Possibly next weekend… possibly.

Gambier Island. We’ve been wanting to visit our friends Trent & Dedrie since they moved (they recently bought a place over there, including the general store). Markus went over by himself to help them move, but we’d like to make a friendly family trip over before summer is through.
