Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

Approx 3.4km (possibly more) in 17.41 minutes this very warm evening. 9 months ago

sea_stormA lousy 15 minute run...

on a different route to my usual one. No idea the distance. But it included a few steep hills. Had to stop running about 8 minutes in and walk for a couple of minutes because I started cramping badly. Think it was period pain. It was pretty hot and I was probably a bit dehydrated and I was very hungry. To make up for that I did some body weight and dumbbell exercises afterwards.

EDIT: approx. 3.6 km 10 months ago

sea_stormDoms from running?

After I pushed myself on Sunday night running 4km (thats a big achievement for me!) I tried to go again last night and my ankles felt really bad, so much so that I almost didn’t run. They improved a bit as I ran but my calves and quads just felt really stiff and my knees hurt… I felt like I couldn’t lift and extend my legs properly to run, I was sort of dragging my legs behind me and I felt really clumsy and awkward. I tried again this morning, in 28C heat mind you, with no improvement, just struggled to get in 1.6km before I had to turn back. Its very frustrating to say the least. I may need to stick to swimming until this improves.

EDIT* I am looking at getting a wobble board, possibly an aquatic one, to strengthen my ankles. 10 months ago

Twenty_TwelveLevel 4

Day 1 – 05/01/2013 – Speeds of 6.5 and 8.5. The 5 minute runs were a bit of hard work. The 3 minuite runs are a lot easier now, even though they were hard work the day before. I think a lot of the difficulty of the runs is in my head. Although I am not leaving rest days in between at this stage, I may need to later on. Will have to listen to my body carfully. 23 months ago

Twenty_TwelveLevel 3

Day 1 – 02/01/13 – I have skipped the last one of week 2. Found the 3 minute run challenging but do-able. Goint about 6.5 on the walks and 8.5 on the runs.
Day 2 – 03/01/13 – Doing this and the 30 Day shred simultaneously so the old thigh muscles are taking a bit of a hammering. Bumped up walk speed to 6.8 and the run speed to 8.8. Was counting down the seconds to walk time during the 3 minute runs but I like the fewer number of changes as the run times are getting longer.
Day 3 – 04/01/13 – Stayed with the 6.8 and 8.8 speeds. The 3 min runs aren’t too bad if i dont focus on the count down. Going away for a couple of days tomorrow….away from the treadmill. Dont know if I will be able to palm off the kids and go for a road run. May have to wait till I come home. 23 months ago

KestrylFalconComplete

I actually completed this last year, after joining cross country. I ran a 10k the other day without stopping and was surprised at how much I’ve improved. If you keep at it and don’t stop no matter how badly you want to, it can be done. And the feeling is amazing. Going for a 20 minute 5k this year! 3 years ago
