Psychic or Paranormal? They're the same. 2 years ago

One misconception that a lot of people have about spiritual experiences is that they think that having a haunting of a spirit entity is completely different from having a psychic experience. These experiences are not different at all. We categorize them separately because we don’t understand our spirit nature.

We are spiritual beings ourselves. Our spirit bodies are connected to our physical bodies because they were joined together as we were conceived and born into this life. Even this simple concept is widely misunderstood. The spirit is not encased in the physical body and sealed off so that it is imprisoned within the human form. Not at all. Instead, the spirit permeates the physical body, flowing through it and radiating beyond it’s outline. If you think of an aura or translucent vapor emanating from the body like the waves rising from the pavement or a car engine on a hot day, then you get a visual image of what it might look like if we could see our spirits moving in and beyond our bodies. The spirit is not encased in any way. This is why we are able to expand our spiritual experience so dramatically when we free our minds of limiting beliefs that tend to hold our spirits in. The spirit can literally expand to reach distances without stretching itself into a strain, and without leaving the body that relies on it for health and wellbeing. Can you be in two places at once? Probably not; but you can cover both places with your expanded so spirit so that you experience two places at once.

One question that seems to boggle a lot of people is, “where do spirits come from?” In other words, if I’m a spirit in a body, what exactly is my spirit and where was it before it came into this body? The spirit is ancient. It existed before this life, before this era, even before this earth was formed. That’s why sometimes we hear of ancient events and feel as if we know them so well that we could have been there. Perhaps we really were there. This is why we may meet someone for the first time and simply be unable to shake the feeling that we know them, and we know them well. Perhaps we knew them before we came into this physical experience.

Our spiritual selves existed in the spiritual realm, plane or dimension (however you choose to describe it) before this life. When we depart this life, the spirit lives on outside the body in that other dimension.

Knowing this, it is easy to understand that spirit entities can expand themselves to reach between dimensions. So, we may experience in this life a connection with a spirit entity. It matters not whether that spirit entity is someone who has crossed over into the spirit world after passing from mortality or if it is someone who is living still. The spirit body can expand itself regardless of whether it is connected to a living person or free of the physical experience altogether.

So having ESP or a psychic dream of a living person can be the same experience as having a visitation by a spirit from beyond the grave. In either case it is the expansion of the spirit that makes the connection. Once you understand this concept, you can feel at ease about your paranormal and psychic experiences. You can feel comfortable about embracing your spirituality and accepting your spiritual gifts.

Tuning in to Psychic/Spiritual Sources 2 years ago

This is also a blog entry in the “older” blogs at http://blog.myspace.com/nursehealer

I’m preparing a workshop on “Trusting Your Inner Voice.” This is a good primer to prepare one for the workshop.

    Tuning in to Psychic/Spiritual Sources

Quite often I find myself writing in various groups or in response to personal emails about the topic of tuning in to psychic/spiritual sources. Most often people are concerned with how to tune in to a single source; but once in awhile the concern is how to tune out unwanted sources. Oddly enough, the answer is much the same in each case. I’ll explain as I continue.

To tune in to a specific psychic/spiritual source, as in tuning in a radio station, one simply focuses the mind to the source. Put another way, one brings one’s own vibrational level into harmony with the vibrational level of the source one is seeking. If you want to understand more about how to bring peace into your home, you wouldn’t concentrate on out of body experiences as you meditate because that would take your focus away from what you are seeking. Instead, you would focus on peace itself, how it feels, what it represents to you, and things that make you feel at peace. You might surround yourself with paintings and other visual representations of clouds, pools of water, or a dove in flight; anything that makes you feel peace inside. You might play music that gives you that feeling as well. Involve all your senses. Rest your hands on a cashmere sweater or a satin pillowcase. Light a gently-scented rose candle or put a drop of lavender essential oil on a tissue near you. Everything you do to experience the feeling of being at peace will bring you into harmony with the vibrational level of the spiritual insight, intuition, or psychic experience, knowledge, or wisdom you are seeking. Then, as you meditate to bring this connection with the other dimension into manifestation, you will find your focus readily and be able to tune in to that particular vibration with ease. As you perfect this technique and become experienced in the process, this will happen more readily.

Now, as to the other question of tuning out unwanted incoming stimuli, the answer is the same. As you tune in to the vibration that you desire by attuning yourself to its frequency, you will find that you have fine tuned your own vibrational level so distinctly that you are no longer in harmony with those unwanted frequencies. As you focus your attention to that which you desire for your life, that which you do not desire and do not give your attention to will simply gravitate to someplace more in harmony with its vibrational frequency. In other words, considering the tuning of the radio, as you fine tune to pull in the station you desire, you move away from the frequencies on either side of the station you are seeking. The closer you get to the station you want, the farther you are from the stations you don’t want. The better your antenna, the more fine tuning you must do.

I felt impressed to post this blog after reading a post in one of the MySpace groups. I often get my inspiration when a specific question or topic is before me. Since this is a topic that comes up so often, I really felt a need to post about it here.

From the MySpace group, “Awake Now,” comes a message thread related to receiving too much stimuli from psychic/spiritual sources.

    My Response to original post:

I hear ya, honey! I sincerely hope that you don’t get negative comments and nonproductive responses. I hope that you get positive, enlightening, visionary comments to your posts. I greatly look forward to reading your posts and have subscribed to your blog as well.

Do keep some sort of a journal? Sometimes it helps me to put a few things down on paper when the psychic/spiritual stimuli are overwhelming. I can arrange my thoughts of what I’m getting into categories or combine like things or even just look at them and know what they mean once I’ve written them down.

One suggestion I heard recently was to write a question with one hand and then write the answer with the other. This is to help move along the resolution of the chaos that sometimes accompanies these experiences or to seek answers from the gulf of the unseen world and our own inner spirits, which are filled with wisdom. You may not need to do that. I generally simply ask a question in my mind with intent so that I hear my own thoughts (sort of like we do when we are reading for meaning), and then I hear the answer in my mind in the same way. But I may try the writing the question with one hand and answering with the other to see what I get.

What I’m hearing from your post is that you welcome the stimuli; but are feeling overwhelmed with the intensity of it. Many people with sensitivity to this dimension think of it like tuning in a radio. Sometimes you’re off the chanel and get static, and sometimes the station comes in clear. What I’m hearing from you is that it’s more like all the channels are turned on at the same time, and you’re getting so much stimuli that you can’t possibly interpret it or absorb it. You can’t even store it because so much coming in at once just makes chaos. So, what you need help with is learning how to tune in a single station, one at a time, and knowing which stations to turn to when.

This is where you can develop your intuition to know with certainty what is important, essential, and expedient in the moment. Not everything that we receive psychically or within our spirits and minds is terribly important. Just like it’s not so important that we process the visual stimuli of everything we see (like the color of the every flower in a garden we walk by, for example), it’s also not necessary that we figure out every single bit of stimuli that we receive from the spiritual plane or our psychic senses. For those with supersensitive psychic receivers, this can be overwhelming and exhausting. So you learn how to know which chanel to tune to at the time, focus on that, and as you perfect your tuning skills, you don’t have to worry about tuning any other chanels out. You simply focus on tuning in the one you wish to receive and the others will not be in the range you are tuning to; so you will cease to receive their input unless you begin to focus on them again.

If that doesn’t make sense, I can be more specific; but I think as intuitive as you truly are that you’ll get it.

I look forward to future communication with you.

    Many blessings.

Receiving Messages - Communicating - Tapping into Source 2 years ago

Trusting your inner voice begins with learning to recognize spirit.

The following blog entry is also found on MySpace at http://blog.myspace.com/nursehealer (click on “Older” at the bottom of the left-hand column to get to it.)

Receiving Messages – Communicating – Tapping into Source

Generally when angels/spirits speak to me I don’t just hear them with my outer ears. It is more of a knowing in the mind. I “hear” them as if I’m hearing my own thoughts. It’s like I hear myself saying words in my mind; but I am aware that I didn’t just think up the words on my own. I often describe the experience as similar to how we read for meaning (but reading silently), taking the time to hear ourselves sounding out the words in our minds. When we read slowly in this way, trying to capture the meaning of a passage or the gist of a set of instructions, it is as if we can “hear” our thoughts.

Messages from the spirit world most often come to me in this way. Communication is quite simple. I ask a thought in my mind in this “reading for meaning” way, and the answer is heard in words in my mind in the same way; but I didn’t think it up on my own. This type of communication can be done with plants, animals, rocks, and even the self. We can ask ourselves what we need to know and tap into our inner being to receive the answer. We can tap into the source of consciousness that we are all a part of.

We are not simply beings apart from the world who are running around on the face of the earth with no connection to anything or anyone. Our physical bodies are separate from one another; but we are more than the sum of our parts. We are spiritual beings inhabiting these vessels we call bodies. Our spiritual nature is not disconnected from everything else the way our physical bodies are.

Our spirits can transcend our physical bodies. Our spirits can expand to connect with other spirit bodies. Think of the spirit as something between a gas and gel, just for visualization purposes. (This is not a scientific characteristic of the spirit.) As we expand our spirit selves to connect with other spirit selves, we can experience the other similar to the way that a gas, being heavier than oxygen, can move in a path along the floor to fill a room; but still be separate from the oxygen above it. The gas envelops all around it and still remains what it was to begin with. Unlike a gas, though, no matter how far out our spirits expand, they do not become less dense. They do not dissipate. They can readily draw back into the shell of the human body with all their intelligence intact. More like a gel, the spirit can mingle with other spirits without fear of losing any part of itself. There’s just no literal analogy that I can think of that would illustrate this principle well.

As one expands the spirit, one can experience the spiritual nature of anything. Yes, anything. It is as if a part of you becomes whatever it is that you are experiencing. This is because we are a part of everything we see around us. We are not disconnected from our world. A part of me is the grass outside my door. A part of me is the sunrise. A part of me is the desk on which I work. A part of me is the birds in the cage in my window. A part of me is my neighbor. Understanding this gives us a clearer comprehension of how we fit into this world, this life, and this plan. It is no accident that we are alive today.

This is the plan. We chose this life. We are a part of this world, this galaxy, this universe, this time, this place, this experience. We are this experience. We are this life. We are this universe. People get so concerned about how to “develop their psychic skills” when all that is really necessary is to simply quiet the mind and allow the inner self to acknowledge what it knows.

I find myself telling people all the time, “You already know this.” I even tell myself this. We already know what we need to know. We already have the answers we are seeking. But we doubt, worry, and fear. We think that knowledge and wisdom are hard to get. We believe that we are incapable of greatness. Bunk! We are greatness. Each of us. This is not hooplah to feed the ego. The ego doesn’t serve us well.

To understand this, we set aside the ego and allow ourselves to acknowledge that part of us that is a part of our children, our parents, our loved ones, our neighbors, our coworkers, our friends. We acknowledge that part of us that is part of the madman who cut us off in traffic, the letter carrier bringing our mail, the clerk behind the counter, and the stranger passing us on the street. We acknowledge that part of us that is part of the divinity that created us.

We embrace our divine nature as we allow ourselves to consider that we are more than the sum of our physical makeup. We are part of a greater whole. I am you and you are me; so I love you when I love me, and I can love me because I am part of the creation and the creator. There is a connectedness in me that is in everyone who lives today, who ever has lived, and whoever shall live. This connectedness transcends all boundaries. It is not bound by place or time. It is not bound by will or desire. It is not bound by human constraints.

We are connected whether we know it or not, whether we like it or not, whether we believe it or not. Refusing to accept the connectedness only serves to create conflict within us. Isolating ourselves from the connectedness simply creates chaos, confusion, and loneliness. Disconnectedness allows negative feelings to fill our vessels.

As we allow ourselves to move beyond our self-imposed boundaries and to connect to that which is beyond our physical vessel, we feel more at peace, more whole, more fulfilled. We needn’t fear this connectedness. It is our true nature. It is what makes us whole.

We can spend our entire lives searching for what will make us feel fulfilled; but all we have to do is allow ourselves to be what we truly are. As we allow ourselves to be our spiritual natures, to experience what is within as we connect to what is, that is when we truly know what it is to be. I am that I am. How can we understand that unless we allow ourselves to experience?
