raslalique is definitely a Newness-seeking Self-improving Tree Hugger
Sometimes I feel this overwhelming need to be a part of something much bigger than myself. I get caught up in this feeling and my life and accomplishments seem pointless and meaningless. I keep waiting for something big to happen, some “moment” to arrive and fill me with its significance.
I will do my best in the here and now to bloom where I am planted. I can’t live in suspended animation any longer. I have to appreciate the mundane as well as the majestic.

Tammy is blooming where I'm planted!
Organic Garden
One of the things I’ve decided to do to “Bloom where I am planted” is to utilize my gardening knowledge. I plan to start a community organic garden program here in the “small” Tx town that I have recently moved to.
Wish me luck!

Tammy is blooming where I'm planted!
made a move recently, but was afraid of loosing my independance in the process, how silly of me. I’m loving making my new house a home. Faced it and did it anyway…and discovered that I am right where I’m supposed to be! Yippee!!!

The Outdoors club that we signed up for wasn’t really our thing. Well, the activities were, but the people not so much. I don’t mean any disrespect by that. They’re nice people, but we just didn’t click.
We’ve both had so much fun with the photography group though. Joel tagged along with me on a few meetups, and used the little ‘Dave camera’ he got me for concerts. We both got ribbed a bit about our little point and shoot cameras, but it was all in good fun, and we were totally welcomed in and made to feel like part of the gang. A lot of the members there dream about going on an African photo safari, so they find me pretty interesting, and I was bombarded by questions after they found out I was from Swaziland. We’re making some pretty good friends, and we’re getting out quite a lot. Joel’s enjoying it so much, that when we accidentally ended up with two new slr’s recently (looong story) he asked if he could keep the second one instead of us sending it back. It’s so cool that we share the same passion!
So.. we’re blooming. =) We’re having a blast getting out by ourselves on our own little shooting expeditions in the evenings, as well as with our buddies in the group on the weekends. It’s amazing how taking such a little step has made such a big difference in our lives.
Those of you who have supported me through my homesickness patches and whiny baby moments, thank you so much. I’m not quite over it yet, but I’m pretty darn close to getting settled here.

In bloom. I’ll be keeping this goal for a short while longer, though. But yes, definitely blooming.

I’m here, so I might as well bloom.
I’ve been wanting to move to Austin for so long, but because I love my job & it’s in Houston, I’m trying to be positive & fall in love with where I am.
It’s really not that bad.
1. lots of things to do.
2. the economy & housing market are still kicking.
3. I could make more money here (compared to Austin).
4. downtown is cooler & much less scary than it used to be.
5. I’m close to family.
Sure, I can bloom here.

Moi, je suis un fleur
des celles qui se manifestent
aussi beau qu’aucun autre.

Done with this.
I always meant this goal to be short-term, because I want to find a new job. The one I’m in now is not a happy place, and I don’t want to bloom here anymore. I reached my tipping point, and now I’m aggressively searching for a place at which I can actually be happy to work.

Who knew it would take so much effort to get people together for free food!! I’m co-hosting a cookout with my neighbor for the rest of the people in our apartment house plus some friends, and it’s taking some serious legwork putting it together! But my new mantra is “Aim for enjoyment, not perfection.” It’s just a cookout Lou, it’ll be fine.
