My writing partner now wants to do our project as an animated film. I don’t think this is the best idea. He has more experience in the film world but I know animation. I just don’t see it as an animated film in our country. If we lived in Japan it would be perfect for it. Not to say it can never happen…but to me it seems like just as much risk, if not more doing animation than going along with live-action.
I understand his apprehension…but seriously, considering how long it takes to make a movie, his own movie is going along really quickly. I know he likes to be in control and so that is why he thinks if we fund a smaller budgeted animated film ourselves…we have more control…but I just see more room to lose financing that way or for it to flop. I think the project reads great as a comic and will be great as a live-action, I just think trying to make it animated is more headache than is necessary. He just needs to calm himself down and focus on making the project a good story…and it’ll work.
My writing partner sold a movie and his career is moving right along. I made a really good choice by deciding to work with him. On our project we already have people pitching it and excited about it and we’re only on page 19 of our script.
I would say in the next few months to a year this project will be a signed movie deal. My partner also got me some video game work.
All the hard work I’ve put into it up to know has really paid off. I’m learning a lot on the business end by working with him and I’m seeing how strong my skills are and having people in a position to move me forward notice them too.
I’m really ready to get all of this moving along.
