Chairs must be one of the most irritating, time consuming things to paint.
How I did it: Found a perfectly good, solid wood chair by the dumpster. I sanded it down, primed it, and decided to paint it a wonderful shade of deep purple. I could have finished it much sooner, had I not been a slacker. It supports my back sooooo much better than the metal folding chair I'd been using. It might be the best chair I've ever owned.
Lessons & tips: Keep your eyes open for solid wood furniture that some one is going to toss, or that you can get for cheap at a yard sale or thrift store. Even if it's a bit scuffed, with a little work you could end up with a great peice of furniture.
Resources: The person who put the chair by the dumpster, Home Depot.

outdoor chair. Needs to be sanded down and repainted. Color possibilities are wide open now!
It’s like these.

i scored a really cute chair for my desk at an antiques faire. right now it’s red with white paint underneath, but it’s solid wood and i’m going to strip it, prime it, and paint it the same colour as my desk. for $20 and some elbow grease, it’s going to turn out wonderfully.
