I have lots of thoughts about the future. Working in education (as a teacher, professor, advisor/counselor). Shooting off from my current work into community development or civil rights work on a different level.
But for now, I have a good job. I’m not done learning yet. I’ve been here for 13 months and I’m always learning new things. I need to practice being in the moment rather than always looking ahead.
So for now, this short-lived goal is done. 4 months ago

I think there’s way to combine my passion for social justice with my love of academia. And in a way that makes a difference (i.e. reaches people when it counts versus preaching to the choir).
I have been toying with the idea of applying for Teach for America for a little while now. I don’t know if I’d make a good teacher or not, so it’s not a decision I would enter into lightly. But I’ve always liked working with adolescents, and young people are at a time in their lives where they need healthy guidance to become well-educated and open-minded people with attainable goals.
I’m sick and tired of the injustice and the intolerance that exists in our world today. And it got me thinking about what I could do to help educate people and promote peaceful coexistence. I think that starting with our youth just might be the answer. 4 months ago
