How to build a darkroom in my basement
How I did it: First, I selected the room - I had two options, the bathroom and the laundry room. Both don't have windows and both have a sink. I went with the laundry room as there was more counter space (or at least a dryer and a washer that act as counter space). My parents had given me an enlarger and so mother supplies for my birthday, so it was just a matter of cleaning the room really well, and setting it all up.
Lessons & tips: Don't do it in a laundry room - especially one that still has be used for doing laundry. I don't really have a good place to dry my negatives, so they get a lot of dust on them.Ā Also, it sucks to have to tear it down and set it back up all the time. I don't get to use it as often as I'd like.

I was lucky enough to have a spare bathroom. Had prints hanging in the shower to dry.
i really miss developing prints. really really bad
i want to work with photo more, but now that i’m out of school i don’t have access to a darkroom
this makes me sad :(
Went and explored around in my basement today. I don’t think it’ll be as bad as I’d feared. In my mind the current environment was worse. Lots of junk but now I just have to learn how to be a carpenter. lol.
sionnac is taking photos of books
I didn’t build the room – my landlord found a corner of the basement near a window and walled it in, put in a door and is helping me figure out the ventilation. Just need some final blackout touches – in about 2 weeks I should be ready to go.
Edited to say that it’s November and I’m printing!!!
