get my resurrected laptop in good running order again

for the moment, but ohh I want a new computer – even though I’d feel a little bad for abandoning the poor laptop after all it’s been through.

My cobbled-together Franken-puter is actually performing surprisingly well. Having deleted a bunch of unused programmes and gotten a decent antivirus that doesn’t hog most of the memory, the only remaining problem is logistical – having to pull the body of the laptop from the top of the screen (the only place there’s room for it) into my lap to use the keyboard. Since it’s now festooned with cables and no longer as maneuverable as a laptop should be, this is a bit of a pain. I did buy a wireless keyboard and mouse but the laptop refuses to talk to them properly, so I’m going to exchange them for a better model and hope that’ll work.

uninstall old anti-virus and install new one, reconnect internet, update messenger programs, probably de-frag, definitely download and install Firefox, re-acquaint myself with the jumble I refer to as my filing system, get my back-up files from my bro’s external drive, and delete any random crap I no longer need. Not all in that order, of course.
