Join the 19th of August Club

I just found this website that lists my claim to fame. In the Birthdays section of the page, for the year 1976… there I am, Acting President of the 19th of August Birthday Club!!

I hope the club has grown by 2008 but, like all birthdays after 30, its no big deal.

As team-leader, I just wanted to G-Up the Deputy on this goal. Faith… stand firm… in the great words of some ghost in a Kevin Costner film from the 1980’s, “If you build it, they will come.”

I know that new members have been a little slow to join up but these things take time, patience and a little… Faith ;)

I hope this entry finds all of you who sent such kind, fun, lovely birthday wishes to me.

in general i had a crappy day to be honest, but i am now at peace with the way it was, despite the negatives.

it’s always nice to share presents so i will tell you what i received:

fabulous hiking boots (i asked for, and got, the lovely suede, waterproof, chocolate brown ones i wanted)
a voucher for a 90 minute full body massage AND a facial at a wonderful spa

(both the above from the x-x, as well as a card and my annual hand-picked bunch of arum lilies)

a Jodie Picoult book from Raph (he chose this himself)

a fountain pen from my parents (also a requested gift)

a ‘peaceful person’ – small statue – for my courtyard, from mom (i’ve wanted one for about 3 years)

the red top from my friends Avalon & Mat

lots of wishes from people here and on facebook

phonecalls from my brothers and sisters from around the world, and from friends in the UK

The photograph was taken on our drive up the west coast today (the x-x, Raph and I went)

Really, sincere thanks for the wishes and laughs and smiles – amazing how much it means even if i will probably never meet most of you.
