do something nice and unexpected for someone every day

i was on my way to work when i noticed the minivan in front of me had the gas cover open and the gas cap hanging down! so once we got a red light i knocked on the window and told the lady (who was older and very grateful) and closed it all up for her. :) good way to start off the day!

so we found a stray dog limping past our house yesterday morning. alone. no collar or tags or anything. we grabbed a collar and leash and fed him, gave him water, and put him inside the house, in the cage with a nice warm blanket for a while. i walked him around the neighborhood and knocked on some doors but nobody recognized him. everyone advised me to call the police station and shelter to let them know i had him. when i called the police, the officer finished the description for me. apparently he’s been lost and found before. i knew we couldn’t keep him, already having the township’s limit of two dogs, plus i just can’t afford any more vet bills right now to get him checked out/healed. so the officer assured me that he was picked up once before and reclaimed by his family, and that he would try to contact the last number he had for them. he called me back and said that he couldn’t get anyone at that number and sent animal control over to take him to the shelter. i hope i did the right thing. i quickly bonded with the pup and just pray that he makes his way home safely. i did have someone email me from the craigslist posting saying she’d like to foster/adopt him if he isn’t reclaimed, but the dog was already gone at that point. i told her which shelter to contact and am hoping for a happy ending!!!! keep your fingers crossed. he reminded me of an older version of my jack russell…..

i decided to get these cute mugs with candy for some people at work (the ones i’m closer to) as a little christmas surprise. and i bought some cards for everyone in the company, plus mini candy canes. gotta love the dollar store :)

i hit up the post office within a small hallmark-type store in town for some stamps. i got there just before the lady went on break, and she let me slide in for just a book of stamps. i heard lots of groans as she told everyone else to come back in an hour. as i was putting stamps on the cards i had with me, i overheard a guy begging for just a few stamps before she went to lunch. the lady wasn’t budging so i gave him stamps from my book. it was a little thing but it made me feel good to do something nice!

ok, so the target of this today is ME!!! i decided to treat myself to a day off tomorrow and make it a nice, long weekend :) it all started because my bf was asking me to stay at home with him today and just hang out and it sounded good to me, but i didn’t have any sick days and wanted to give at least a little notice. so i decided to surprise him and take tomorrow off. he is very excited. hopefully, he will be back to work next week (trying to stay optomistic) so we may as well enjoy the day off together!

to send grandma a ‘thinking of you’ card. it’s pretty, with 3D paper butterflies inside. i know she will love it… i miss her!!!

so i should have named this a bit differently but it doesn’t hurt to aim high – so it will stay as-is.

every time i leave the hot tub at the gym, i reset the timer for people so they won’t have to get out to restart it… it’s my own little secret.

i did buy my friend a tae bo tape off of ebay and had it shipped directly to her, after she told me that she missed her old (and lost) tape. can’t wait til she gets it in the mail. she will be surprised :)

bought some cute yet inexpensive fall decorations for my mom and sisters. i think they will really like them!

i sent my aunt this $25 “great american” gift card to her with her bday card and she sent it back! that is SO my family!

that my friend is getting a puppy (or two) soon and she is very excited. so i decided to bring in my crate for her to use indefinitely! she was very happy about it. i couldn’t bear to keep my dog in a cage and she is the same way, but she wants to use one until the dog(s) get adjusted to living with the cats & in a new place. i’m so excited for her :) i remember when i got my puppies and can’t wait to meet the new addition(s)!
