How I did it: I read at least 5 pages every night before bed. No cheating. If I was reading a section that had many smaller subheadings I would read all of them until I got to one that was really long and then I would save it for the next day. |

I had lots of time, considering I was on my vacation so I read it in just four days. Try not to give up. The story itself is amazing: the whole twisted relationship between Anna and Vronsky is deeply absorbing. How I did it: I was looking for a great novel to read over the Christmas break. I always wanted to read a Leo Tolstoy novel and since War and Peace seemed like a monster at the time, I decided to tackle Anna Karenina. Glad I did. Fascinating book! Another book I bought a long time ago and never even opened.
10/4/09: Found the book on my shelf, started reading. Finished 65 pages. It’s better than I thought it would be.
11/4/09: OK, I’m 175 pages in. Vronsky just broke his horse’s back and walked away. This incident didn’t help me like him.
I started reading this again last night! I actually found it good. So I made it past page 6 (where I stopped the last time)... I think I could finish it with in 2 weeks!!
Anyone has read this? I want to read it in one sitting…. maybe a special anna karenina vacation!?
I’m 400 and something pages in. The book itself is pretty good although Anna is annoyingly tragic. I’m finding it hard to concentrate on the miniscule print! I will finish it!

So I set a goal within a goal for myself: to read Anna Karenina before my 20th birthday. Twenty-six days left & I have not read a word.
I think that’s what I’ll be doing today- going to the park, plopping down on my favorite swinging bench, & reading the book to death. As long as it isn’t too windy.

This means actually reading it all the way through without starting another book!
It took several months, but I finally finished it!
I loved it. Tolstoy goes to great descriptive lengths to give you a detailed history and account of the characters lives but I really love that detail.
