Sitting outside in the sun yesterday with friends, I mentioned that my hair seems to take ages to grow because it curls up so much, and they’d have to see it wet to see how long it was. At these words, a guy I’ve known for a few months sat bolt upright and exclaimed “What, it’s NATURAL?”
Apparently he thought I used a curling iron every morning.
Made my day.

On Monday at work, I was at the computer entering the food orders, and one of my coworkers came over and said, “I just have to tell you that I love your hair.” And today I also had it down; the guy who delivers our linens walked by and said, “Your hair looks real cute like that.” Made my day!

I wouldn’t hate my curly hair as much if the curls actually did what I wanted them to do! They’re all over the place, and even when I use product, they get poofier and more volumous…
See, I’m unfortunate because I have curly AND thick hair! At the same time!!! It’s frustrating, really.

My hair has always been curly, but has gotten curlier as I’ve gotten older, probably because I’ve learned how to use hair product. I never really hated it when I was younger, but I used to see those shampoo commercials on TV and wish my hair was silky and shiny like that. Now, though, I’ve learned the importance of a good haircut. That, coupled with the fact that lots of straight-haired people wish they had curls, make me love what I have.

It’s hard to manage, and I always have problems with it. But, I am willing to try to accept it. i will not straighten it (usually I do like once a month) anymore, and I will learn to use the right products and manage it right. I will look at people with straight hair and go, “Psh, I don’ envy your hair. My hair is damn sexy.”

for years i hated my really curly hair sometimes got teased about it at school nothing major just joking about but i wished so much tht i could have straight hair. but now i love my curls my look is very individual thanks to my curls. Now rather than try and brush them down like i used to do i fluff up my curls to make them appear even wilder.

^this picture is not me but another girl that listened to this book’s advice…much better huh?!
I went to Borders the other day and ran into a book called “Curly Girl” by Lorraine Massey! I vowed to stop hating my curly hair from then on and actually try to embrace it, care for it and show it off! One thing that stood out that I’d never heard before is she said to throw away all your shampoo! ALL OF IT! She said that you can easily wash your hair with conditioner and wont dry it out like shampoo! SO I did it(nervously though, because I have dandruff and shampoo is my savior!) but It’s been almost a week now and first off my hair never looked better and my scalp is totally clean!!! It’s awesome! SO go read the book and PLEASE PLEASE STOP SHAMPOOING THOSE CURLS!!!
