How I did it: I was pretty young, probably 9 or or something, when my dad took my sister and i to a bike meet. Did it today…
My brother in law is a helicopter pilot, and he took us from the airfield of Schaffen to the Heli airport of Paramount. Thanks Dietmar !
As part of some corporate awards thing in Las Vegas, one of the things we had the option to do was a full tour via helicopter. Jumped right on that.
The flight took off from the Las Vegas airport, went out over Lake Las Vegas, the Hoover (Boulder) dam, up the Grand Canyon and landed on a little bluff deep inside the canyon. We had a champagne picnic there and then flew back with a run down the strip.
Out of a group of about 25, only one person got motion sickness. If you are prone to that, I’d stay away, but otherwise, game on!
I’ve done this. I freaked. I don’t remember when I did it though. I believe it was in Wisconsin Dells.
My parents have a video tape of me like screaming mostly through the whole tour. LOL.
I posted about my first time touring Hawaii’s Big Island but we did it a second time…a year ago near Queenstown, New Zealand. They dropped just the two of us on a mountain peak with a picnic lunch on a blanket, a 2-way radio, a couple of jackets (in case it got chilly), and a superb view for a few hours …unbelievable!!!!!!!!!
I have never flown in a helicopter – would like to try at least once in my lifetime
i love flying and have been on planes countless times, but never on a helicopter. i´m so curious how it´s different!
Did this several times in Germany, and most recently from Monaco to Nice Airport (Heli Air Monaco) this past weekend. What a thrilling way to spend 7 minutes of your life over the Mediterranean.
lilliputtigerlily is settling in the Denver area.
My husband and I splurged on a helicopter tour of Kauai, when we were there on our honeymoon. There were loads of helicopter companies from which to choose. We chose the one that the owner of the bed and breakfast where we stayed recommended; she sends her grandkids on Air Kauai regularly. Good enough (safe enough) for us! It was amazing.
