My best time on the 10km is 42:47 set a couple of weeks ago on a pretty flat course. Next stop is to break 40mins.

I’ve been challenged by a mate to run a 10k road race in 6 weeks.. my unrealistic goal is 40 min. I smoked untill last week.. I ran my first 10 tonight on medium hill terrain in 49. can we do it? Yes we can!
Hi, my name is Chris and im a 17 year old from walsall. Ive registerd to run the marathon in 2009 and for my first realy race ive signed up for the aldridge run, a 10km race around the circumference of aldridge on 8th June. My freind who has convinced me to run this runs 10km in around 42mins, so i simply want to beat his time:D lol Wish me luck.
Having been running for a few years now I have gone from a 50 min time down to a 45 and there I have stayed because that was fast enough for what I wanted.
However to get into the top 10 for my age class at a national level in orienteering I’m going to need to get my running speed up.
I have a plan that should take 10 weeks providing there are no injuries or overuse issues.

57 minutes. Well, there were a lot of walkers I had to shoulder past but that’s pretty slow – I have a long way to go. I’d best get to bed and have a good run tomorrow morning.

Ran this yesterday. Think I did 50 mins, but I’m now very motivated to get underway and do some more training, do another race and aim for 40 mins. The final results come out tomorrow, so we’ll see how I did first thing in the A.M.
It was hilly, but so is the 10k I’m doing a week from now.
Won’t be sub 40, but a subgoal is < 7 minutes/mile.
Why are 10Ks so much work? :)

Been off running for nearly a week – due to some sort of virus. But I’m all better now and ready to hit the dusty trail….

Well, I did a 10km race in 46 minutes (45’57” to be precise). That means I have to knock off two thirds of a minute (40s) off each kilometer. It’s quite a bit when you put it like that….
