I just don’t have time for this now. Maybe after the first of the year when all of the holidays are over. I’m giving up for now so I can replace this with a goal that I can actually achieve, at least for now. Good luck to everyone else!

    Very Difficult 3 years ago

I was in Japan for about almost a year and a half total, I took a couple small classes, as well as college 101 course; I still only know enough to understand less than half of what I hear. There is so much more that I need to learn in order to get around (living working, eating etc.).
To anyone just beginning: Understand, this will take much effort.

    Obstruction! 3 years ago

Tried to sign up for a class at Orientation, but it was full! Guess this well have to wait until next semester.

I’ve picked up on this goal after ages of not doing anything about it. I have a trip to Japan coming up in November, and I have set myself the task of getting to a relatively acceptable level of conversational Japanese by then. I’m using a free program from byki.com – which has turned out to be unexpectedly good – and am hunting down reviews for audiobooks so that I can listen/learn while round the house, doing chores, or on journeys. So far it’s going well, and I’ve never felt more motivated about studying!

How do you say "Applesauce rocks my socks!" in japanese? 3 years ago

I want to learn japanese so that when I get a chance to go there, I’ll beable to order food in japanese with out needing a book…

I also want to beable to watch my dubbed anime with out having to pause to read the subtitles when they decide to speak quickly… or just with out having to read the subtitles in the first place…

My husband and his family speak japanese. I want to be able to have a conversation with his mom without struggling to understand what she’s saying. I want to help keep my husband’s japanese fluent. There’s also being able to read it but that’s a whole other story.
