“When he has obtained those things which are necessary to life, there is another alternative than to obtain the superfluities; and that is, to adventure on life now”
- Henry David Thoreau
Aiming for living simply feels so good. I’m not there yet, but the process has has plenty of intrinsic payoff. The course of stripping away the unessential possessions and activities, naturally creates time and energy for the fulfilling ones.
As I’m pretty comfortable with the path I’ve taken with my buying habits, I need to focus more on simplifying (body, home, time).

I may have phrased this goal somewhat harshly, so it comes off sounding like I have a problem I need to overcome. Really, I just need to be more conscientious. Live simpler, desire less, invest my energy on more essential parts of my being.
That being said, I’m no longer working in retail, which is a really positive change overall.

Yet another goal that’s just too vague. Perhaps I’ll start with eschewing eBay?

Not going so well: Curse you eBay! Curse your low prices and high pressure time constraints! I’m from the American middle class; I’m not trained to say no to a bargain.
Next step: Make a list of necessary purchases for this week and don’t buy anything that’s not on the list unless there’s an honest to god emergency.
