Since i was young i have always wanted to become a pin up model. I have modeled before in the past. Pin up models are sexy, sassy and fantastic. I have been told that i have the looks, a classic face, and the determination! I would love to give it a shot.

The pictures from the Tim Burton themed shoot came in the mail today! I’m so pleased with them. :D
Here’s a link to my Pinup Lifestyle gallery that has them all up.

I do see now how much I really need to slim down. I’m going to do a full body detox by way of Body Wraps to jump start the process, then get back on a regular exercise plan. I also need to control my portions. I’m a stress eater, and lately, I’ve been stressed. Blah.
But anyway, hooray for pictures! Hopefully I’ll have another shoot soon, and then start booking modeling jobs. :D

I’m so excited! My profile on ModelMayhem was just approved, and I already have a message from a photographer interested in doing a test shoot. :D Hopefully this will lead to some more pin-up shoots in the future! ^^

Played around with hair, makeup, posing , photos and such. Tell me what you think:

Took the plunge and sent in an application for ModelMayhem! Now I’m just waiting to hear if I was approved or not. Fingers crossed!

So, I had a bit of a conundrum. Yesterday’s pinup shoot was fantastic, and I had a fabulous time. But, once I got home I was a bit stumped as to what to do next. Do I keep booking shoots to build up a portfolio? Do I dive in headlong and try to book a job? How do I do that, where do I look?
I Googled every possible thing I could think of, and eventually I came across this:

Your application has to be approved, but mine was approved almost immediately and had no problem whatsoever. It’s a networking site sort of like MySpace or ModelMayhem. It’s a great place to find other models, photographers, and there’s a section of the forums for Model Castings. I’m very excited! I know now that I do want to build up my portfolio a bit more, and then I’m going to go for some of those jobs! I’m also going to work on getting into better shape, but things are really starting to look up!

Today was fabulous! I had my first professional pin-up shoot with Shoshana of Through the Looking Glass Studio in Dallas. She was great to work with, and Ro was fabulous with hair and makeup. ^^ There was another lady there having her photos taken, and we all sat around and shot the breeze while having our hair done and getting into costume. It was great fun, very relaxed.
Since it was Tim Burton themed, Shoshana had built a great set based off of Nightmare Before Christmas. I brought my Sleepy Hollow dress and we took some shots with that, and then I changed into the Sally costume she had available. I can’t wait to see how the pictures turn out!
Now I have to figure out where to go from here. I can just keep taking pictures, but what am I going to do with them? Once I drop some more weight, I’d love to take some burlesque classes with Ginger Valentine, but where exactly do I go as a pin-up model? I know I need to build a portfolio, so more photos are definitely in the future. But…then what?

I’ve loved the vintage, Cheesecake pin-up photos for years. I always thought to myself, “I wish I had the guts to do that,” all the while admiring how beautiful and confident the women in those photos were.
I never really saw myself as a pin-up model. I’m not happy with my body (something I’m working on), I don’t consider myself sexy, and I’m more than a bit of a wallflower. I had always thought this way. Then, something happened. It was on my birthday, back in 2008. I’m not quite sure what it was, but something in my brain clicked, and suddenly I started thinking differently. I started a regular exercise routine and started eating healthier, and I dropped 40 lbs. My confidence grew, and I started modeling for some amateur photographers.
Tomorrow, I have my first pin-up shoot with a professional photographer. She specializes in Cheesecake pin-up, and goes all out with sets, costumes, hair, and makeup. (Her website is dallaspinup.com, well worth a look.) I’ll be taking part in the Tim Burton themed Halloween shoot. I’m nervous, especially since I’m still not 100% comfortable with my body, but I’m also excited. It’s healthy to get out of your comfort zone, how else are we supposed to grow? I’ll post again after the shoot. ^^
