sleeper car
I rode a sleeper car from Tokyo to Nagasaki with what was soon to be my wife (and soon after that to be my exwife). We had our own cabin (or whatever you call them on trains). When it got dark, a train dude came in to covert our space into two pulldown beds. They are quite narrow and not legal (for safety reasons) for two people to sleep in one bed. We broke the law. The rocking and the bumping felt really nice. I think the train was doing that too.

Kiev to Odessa

Shared a compartment with a nice Ukrainian lady (stranger). Apparently, its common for strangers of the opposite sex to share a sleeper car.

but haven’t discussed specifics such as where we would like to go and when. This may actually be something for next summer when he kids are out of school. Or, maybe we can do a weekend trip sooner! I have to check into this…

Most of my trips were to Oulu and back.

Two friends and I hopped the train in Tacoma and took it down to San Francisco for the weekend and the sleeper car was definitely worth the money, especially being the drunkards we were! (Note photo.)
I got to have one to myself on the way back. I just sat back, read my book, got loaded, ate food, and slept. Couldn’t have had a better time. The experience was fabulous!

i took the train to Beijing from the remote city in NE China I’m living in for the year. it was comfy and modern. i’d do it again in a heartbeat—especially because you pay for your transportation and hotel in one!

Well it’s not a sleeper car, but I am going to ride the train the end of the month to take my grandson to a Mariners game in Seattle. I would still like to take a long trip sometime though. Amtrac has a couple of routes like the Coast Starlighter and then theres another train that goes up through the Canadian Rockies that looks like it would be fun.
