still going quite well, it appears to be taking ages for them to grow though which is quite frustrating but i take it its expected.
How I did it: I just used other stuff to preoccupy myself with like spoons or end of a pen. I know it sounds stupid but it actually works. If you can't do that (simply becasue it is kinda skanky) think about how nice your nails will look if you stop biting them. People generlly get put off by a bad appearnce, and bitten nails is one of them. You can always try chewing gum or something, just leave the nails alone! Read how I did it…
HOMETOWN GLORY (L)
How I did it: I wear nail polish as often as I can. That way, when I started biting it tasted disgusting from the nail polish and it also looked HORRIBLE. My other nails would be nicely painted and one or two of my nails would be missing nail polish. It looked gross and everytime I went to bite I would see that damn nail polish and stop. How I did it: well me and my mom went to walgreens and we bought some "Thum" which you basically put on your nails and it makes them taste like crap. So during first period the next day i tried to bite them and it burned the crap out of my tounge so badly that i never put my fingers in my mouth again. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I stopped putting my fingers anywhere near my mouth and thought about how much easier it is to play guitar when you have a set of long nails. So yeah, I hate I have to write so much, it sucks. Anyway, I did it in the end, and with the exception of a slip up every other month, I'm doing quite well. Read how I did it…
How I did it: I realized that the reason I bite my nails is because my emotions. Sad- bite my nails. worried- bite my nails. nervous- bite my nails. So then I decided that I would look at my nails when I was unhappy & the length would make me happy & then I wouldn't have to bite them. (= Read how I did it…

safe to say i didnt stick with the whole non biting of my nails thing, but im on a new health lease. although ive heard biting your nails is healthy for you :S it doesnt look nice though, so im starting over again, and hopefully this time ill be able to stop for good!
I’m ALMOST stop biting my nails :) I used glue-in nails this time. And I agree in using nail polish. You look at your nails painted and you think “how pretty” and can’t bite them, hehe :P but I’m almost making it without painting them or such. I think all that it takes is your own will and nothing more :D
I used other stuff to preoccupy myself with like a spoon XD Then they grew and they looked awesome and my nails never look awesome no matter what I do. Now whenever I want to (not at school) I wear nail varnish (It’s banned).
KayteeKayos ahhh!! I need a tan... I need to go to Sprague..I need a Monster.
I have always bit my nails. It is such a hard habit to break. I am really insecure.. Whenever I think somebody is talking about me, I bite. If I am nervous, I bite. Sad, I bite. Jacob on the brain, I chew until I bleed. No matter what my mood is I bite my nails. I do it without even knowing it sometimes. I really want to stop. My fingers always hurt from biting to much. They bleed alot and I like covering my hands so that nobody sees my ugly short little nails.

mb kepp needs to be inspired again.
this has been a life-long problem that resurfaces from time to time…
thick glitter nail polish and the desire to quit has worked before, and i’ve been doing well the past 4 or 5 days.
I hate biting my nails! it takes some of the pressure off but when people with long cool nails see yours it makes you want to run to your room and hide under your bed. its so embarrasing when they start playing with your fingers and examining your nails and they ask you if you bite them. plus if you go in the pool or put purell on, it hurts!!!
Hmm… I bite my nails since I was 10 years old. I’m quite a nervous person, and this is the way i find to release this. I already tried painting them, I tried glue-in nails… Still, I just stop biting them for two weeks or so and then I start biting them again.
I’ll try to stop biting them, but this time it’s forever!
Not sure why I didn’t have this on my goal list earlier. It’s been a long process. I had to wean myself off the habit but making some nails off-limits while allowing myself to leave others as fair game (kind of a safety net). First I had 4 nails growing, then 5. I started to think in terms of percentages (I’m 40% cured, then 50%, halfway to my goal). As I started to see results it made me want to work harder to stop biting. I was stuck at 90% for many months. My poor left index finger bore the brunt of my addiction! I’m happy to say that now even it has some white beyond the quick. I bought some very subtle nail polish to celebrate and I am marking this goal done!
