Some things

have to be sacraficed so that other things can happen. I am an artist but I want to spend 100 percent of my working life making and doing and making money from what I do. Therefore this is a goal that needs to be put away for now. I am considering working part time and working for the rest of my time putting together processes that will allow me to do this. Sadly I won’t be able to afford luxuries like making my house look nice, but one day soon I will.

but they really work. And I do so love ticking lists off.
Sort out my spare room into a workable studio
Paint the kitchen
Paint the bathroom
Paint the chest of drawers
Put up shelves in my living room
Put up shelves in my bedroom
Sort out all my magazines into box files
Buy shelving for my box files
Buy boxfiles
Have a big spring clean and throw out stuff I don’t need… Be ruthless!
clear out and clean my kitchen cupboards
make or buy curtains for my spare room
make or buy curtains for my bedroom
Change all the lightbulbs to energy saver ones
order my papers
clear out the bathroom
Change the shower curtain in the bathroom
fix the toilet holder in the bathroom
Sort out a proper recycling situation ‘ie: delegate a space for recycling, not just plastic bags strewn about the place
Reorder the coat cupboard
move the other chest of drawers out of the bedroom and into the studio/spare room
put clothes away
sort out the shelves in the hall way
Clear out the front doorstep
Tidy up the back yard
sit down and have a cup of tea

I’m in desperate need of a set of drawers.
Since the boy moved out he has taken his lovely spacious huge set of drawers and wardrobe, which really just had all my stuff in them, but now they’re gone, I don’t know what to do with all my clothes. At first I thought, well I managed before so I can manage now, but I have spent the last hour cramming my clothes into a wardrobe and set of drawers, even throwing out the hoody that got dyed pink in the wash and some stray socks. I thought I had managed it until I remembered all the clothes on the washing line and in the spare room.
I suppose it didn’t help that I bought a new dress and some work pants today.
Aaaarggggh!
I even went to St Oswalds Hospice furniture shop to see if they had anything, but they didn’t. Looks like I may have to get out the Argos Catalogue.

lovely flat that is spacious and has the potential to be amazing, but due to my cluttter and need to horde, it isn’t. So I have decided to make it so.
Right now I am decluttering my living room and already I have two bin bags full of junk to throw out, I have moved some furniture so that the space has opened up to be more inviting and clutter free. I have also opened up the space by the only heater meaning that I can use the energy to it’s fullest potential, it used to hide behind the sofa meaning that the heat didn’t warm the room up as quickly, but I have moved that, so I should be saving energy and money in the process. Next on my list for the living room, is to replace the desk with a second hand writing bureau. They are smaller and look prettier, and I can hide my laptop away when I’m not using it. The place also needs some new pictures to brighten the place up, so I’m going to put my wallhanging up that I made ages ago, and frame those pictures I bought 2 years ago. I’d love to commission my friend Helen who is a fantastic abstract painter, maybe once I am a rich teacher I’ll do that.
The other thing I need is a wardrobe and a chest of drawers for the bedroom. I have way too many clothes for my own good. I think I may be getting these from my friend who has to move out of his place and has a whole load of furniture to get rid of, so that’s nice. I just need to find a van now to move it, but seeing as I’m getting them for free I suppose I could hire a van and find a willing driver.
