Watching ‘Hackers’, reminded me I want to learn to rollerblade.

I didn’t rollerblade for such a long time and I think I forgot how :(
I got a pair of used rollerblades from a friend and I am very cautiously trying them out. I haven’t fallen and my shrieking and flailing hasn’t scared off my skating partner yet.
I took a lesson online with problader.com and I was skating and stopping the same night! My friend came with me to the in person lesson later on and we had a blast..she is now engaged too cause of it heehee

This weekend would have been perfect, except R got extra beat-up at work Friday. (A boat fell on his legs, bruising and scraping them so that he had difficulty walking.) Soon, though…I’m ready to cross this one off!
I can’t keep track of how many people have offered to teach me but never kept their word.
I tried it once where I went flying down my best friend’s driveway and down her street.
One day, if you have enough patience, I will put the blades back on.
I’m inspired to get going on this goal having seen how well the climbing has gone – it’s great to find that I actually genuinely enjoy a sport, and hope rollerblading will continue in the same vein, this time with added cardio benefits.
I’m going to start with a course, and am thinking of the January one here http://www.skatefresh.com/group-lessons/skate-school/ – hopefully I will have a bit more free time & money then. The special offer makes it a good deal too. Maybe I can even convince a friend or two to come along…well, it worked for climbing!
When I was younger my aunt and my mom were going to teach my brother and me how to roller skate. I had all my equipment on and my skates were all ready, but everyone went inside to get something, so while they were inside, I stood up and tried to skate. I fell backwards, unable to stand back up, and it still haunts me to this day that if I wasn’t wearing my helmet I could be dead. Now I’m scared of both skates and roller blades.
I’ve always wanted to learn how, though, for exercise and such. I don’t know how I’ll start though, especially since winter is kicking into full gear and all.
