Dear 43 Things Users,

10 years after introducing 43 Things to the world, we have decided we have met our last goal: completing the incredible experience that has been 43 Things. Please join us in giving one last cheer to all the folks who have shared their goals with the world, as well as all the people who have worked at The Robot Co-op to build this incredible website. We won a Webby Award, published a book, and brought happiness to a lot of people.

Starting today, 43 Things users can export their goals and entries from the site. Starting August 15, we will make the site “read only”. 43 Things users will still be able to view the site and export their content, but we won’t be taking any new content from users. We hope to leave the site up for folks to see and download their content until the end of the year. Ending on New Year’s Eve takes us full circle.

It has been a long ride (one of our original goals was to "build a company that lasts at least 2 years” - we beat that one!) While we wish the site could live on, it has suffered from a number of challenges - changes in how people use the site, the advertising industry, and how search engines view the site. We wish the outcome was different – but we’ve always been realistic about when our goals are met and when they aren't.

As of today, you will be able to download your goals and entries. See more about that on the FAQ page. Thanks for 10 great years of goal-setting and achieving.

- The Robots.

earthtolydia10,000 songs later...

Okay, in 2013 I was incredibly progressive on this goal. I’ve discovered lots of up and coming bands such as FKA Twigs, BROODS, BASECAMP, and Banks by searching for lists of highly-anticipated acts for 2014. In fact, I would go as far as to call some of these my new favourite bands (particularly the latter three)... I’ve also become very fond of Chance The Rapper’s album (Acidrap), I highly recommend it!

Last year I attended Latitude Festival in Suffolk which has a vast number of stages and usually showcases a majority of unheard-of names. I went on a whim to this festival and saw a few people I’d never even heard of before or had barely listened to like James Blake, King Charles, and Luke Sital-Singh. I was highly impressed with all of these acts and am still completely doting on James Blake’s latest album – flawless!

In terms of actually seeing some new acts in the up and coming year, I plan to see lots of new/lesser-known names over the summer such as Bonobo and Pusha T at Park Life festival. Then of course you have the bigger names which I probably wouldn’t usually consider seeing live (purely because of ticket prices these days) like Justin Timberlake, Arctic Monkeys, and Kanye that I’ve purchased tickets to go and see.

All in all I’ve been a real iTunes worm over the past 11/12 months and can’t wait to disocver even more over the summer! 10 months ago

Sufjan Stevens and Vampire Weekend.

I’ve listened to Seven Swans constantly. 10 months ago

This week I have listened a lot to Florence + the machine, New Politics, and Magic Man. I have read reviews, and am learning about the very detailed different genres. Like garage rock, indie-pop, pop-punk etc. Each new band brings other bands to listen to. I just ended a sentence in a preposition. 11 months ago
