its like the complete opposite to my sort of music so i wana try it :)
How to listen to classical music
How I did it: I'd always sort of liked classic music, but had never actually become an avid listener. Truthfully, I just picked up a classical CD and gave it another whirl.
It's really all about just giving it a try; there's no trick or anything to loving classical music.
Lessons & tips: Don't knock it 'til you try it!
Listen to music from different music periods - you may find that one appeals to you more than another. Listen to a wide array of composers, too.
Resources: The Solitudes collection of CD's is a good option if you're looking to warm up to instrumentals at first, then move into classical artists.
Look for compilation CD's, of course, and CD's featuring one composer's work.

I started doing this about a month ago and now I listen most of the time. I even bought a CD of waltzes because I realized from listening the the classical music station that waltzes are my favorite. I just love how calm and enlightened it makes me feel!
I was SO happy to find people wanting to do this. I’ve listened to classical since I was born, as it was forced upon me by my mother. Of course I couldn’t complain when I was little. However as soon as I got old enough I branched off to Radio Disney which seemed like the coolest thing ever at the time. After that it was The Beatles, Rolling Stones, Queen and Frank Sinatra. Because it was pretty much what my parents listened to when they were my age, they never complained. Three years ago I discovered Dvorak’s 9th symphony. After that I was completely hooked. Now at the ripe old age of 15, I’m a complete classical addict!
For starters I suggest the composers:
Saint-Saens
Tchaikovsky
Dvorak
Bach
Beethoven
Holst
Grieg
Rachmaninoff
Prokofiev
To be specific about the pieces, I suggest:
Beethoven’s symphonies (mainly 3, 5, and 9)
Mozart’s clarinet concertos
Prokofiev’s Romeo and Juliet
Bizet’s Carmen
Dvorak’s 9th symphony
Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker
Stravinsky’s Rite of Spring
Bernstein’s Candide
Holst’s Planets
Grieg’s Peer Gynt
I greatly admire anyone who accepts this goal. You hardly realize how much classical can change your life. Despite my flings with other genres, I’ve always come back to classical.
I’d love to talk to anyone who has questions or wants more musical suggestions!
I really would like to listen to more classical music but I need a jump start. If anyone could suggest what artist’s or song’s that they love please do.

I got my MR> hooked on Classical music.now thats what he listens to to fall asleep.each week another composer,30 minutes every night. Library land is a wonderful place.not only can you get the books about the music but the cd’s as well.
I checked out a few books about classical music. The best was NPR’s Curious listners guide to Classical Music. It explained a lot of the terminology and had a succint historical recap of clasicla music from it;’s inception in the 16th century to modern day composers. I’ve started checking some CDs out (I’m listening to Rachmaninoff’s 2nd symphony right now) and plan on building my own collection ASAP.
